COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

Bottle courtesy of graniteskunk. Pours dark brown with a dissipating light brown head. Smells of roasted malt, some coffee hints, light earthy notes. Tastes of Roasted malt, chocolate, some licorice hints, coffee, some mild bitterness on the finish. Enjoyable.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a pure black color with a medium creamy beige head. A sweet nose of cocoa, vanilla, and light roast. A very unique flavor with hints of tartness from the British Cask Yeast I think, some cocoa, a somewhat thin palate, vanilla and coffee. Good.

(12oz bottle thanks to Exiled) cloudy deep brown with a ring of fine brown bubbles. Nose of brine, olives, milk chocolate, and a bit of fudge. Taste of unsweet coffee, a bit of umami, watery, smoke, and I don’t like the linger. Seems old.

UPDATED: JUL 5, 2012 Tried again. The ashtray finish is even worse with some weird tang. The sweet smelling brew makes me think of milk chocolate and roasted peanuts. There is also a little bit of dough. This tastes with cola with a little bit of chocolate syrup. There is also some light booze and tobacco ashtray in the finish. The body is perfectly black with a very thin tan head. This is ok, but nothing special.

Bottle: The aroma is a nice mixture of chocolate, roasted coffee, and a hint of nuts. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a one finger tan head that fades to a thin film and leaves spotty lacing. The flavor starts with moderate milk chocolate and a touch of vanilla. The finish has light-moderate roasted coffee and a hint of fruit. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, a very nice Sweet Stout and I can definitely see myself drinking plenty of this in the near future.
