COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2012 Really good sweet stout. Pours dark with a bit of tan head. Smells like coffee, tobacco, vanilla, milk chocolate, and banana. Smooth and slick palate. Very milky and creamy with nice chocolate and coffee flavours coming through. Roasted malts. Sour cherry finish. Delicious!

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2013 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Very good aroma, coffee scent. Nice, creamy pour with some head. Great taste and almost an oily finish, but very nice. Sweet with strong coffee notes but not overpowering. Very nice from a town of 220 people

Bottle from khoffman43 pours deep dark amber with a tan head with little retention. Nose of coffee grinds. Taste begins with coffee grinds, light chocolate. Mild bitterness as most of balance comes from the roast. Body is medium, if not a tad thin.

12 oz bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Black color. Light brown head, with a 1 bubble layer retention. Aroma’s: lactose sweetish, roasted malts, mocha, chocolate, nice! Retronasal more roast, a bit less sweet. Flavor is moderate sweet, roasted, oat. A bit low carbonation, and a nice creamy mouthfeel. A bit thin bodied. Finish is hard roasted, ashy, somewhat dry and roasted bitter. Pretty nice!

Dark brown pour, black appearance. Minimal head/carbonation. Aroma is coffee and cream, leaning towards the sweet cream side. Light vanilla. Flavor is roast malt and mild dark fruit that finishes with a black olive flavor. Somewhat dry and roasty. Relatively thin mouthfeel. Drinkable.

No bottle date A: pours a dark brown with a small latte foam head with little resonance. Falls to a sheet of the same with spotty lacing. Looks good, but nothing impressive. S: Cream, cocoa, hay, sheetgrass, cold pressed coffee. Nutty flavors. Malts are sweet and creamy. Very nice. Smallest hint of salted caramel. T: Sweet and creamy yet again. Plenty of cocoa, latte flavors. Dry and roasted dark chocolate malts. The lactos is very evident here. M: Medium body with moderate to spritely carbonation. Dry finish. I think the carb is a touch high for the style and the body a touch low. O: Nice, easy drinker. The best milk stout, no, but good. Sweet in the right places. Serving type: bottle 05-18-2011

Poured into a snifter. 3.0 A: Black color. Just about one finger of light brown head that fell quickly and left no lacing. 5.0 S: Wonderful interplay of lactose and chocolate. Actually, there’s a good hit of coffee in there as well, so this is much like a mocha latte. Light roastiness and plenty of oats. This is incredibly intense, but also incredibly appealing. Excellent! 4.5 T: Taste is a lot like the nose. Lactose, chocolate, and coffee flavors do the trick again. Oats, a light roastiness, and grainy malts add complexity. Really nice again. 4.5 M: Medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Reasonably creamy and insanely smooth. 5.0 D: The taste could have easily been a five. This is a damn tasty brew and shockingly close to Cowbell in terms of flavor profile and quality. I think I need to get ahold of several more of these. Pours a dark brownish black pour with a beautiful large mocha head. Nose is chocolate, coffee, licorice and malty. Taste is full of malt, with sweet chocolate, and espresso. Finish is sweet and slightly bitter, nice sweet stout. Quaff 8 / 10
