COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

This stout poured a deep black colour with a dark brown head. Scents include cocoa, coffee and caramel. First sip was silky smooth with flavours of lite chocolate and coffee flavours. Finish is burnt and black coffee like. Burnt flavour lingers....

12 oz. bottle. Pours black with a moderate, somewhat foamy tan head. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt along with a bit of chocolate. The flavor is roasted malt with chocolate followed by a decent does of ash. A bit dry and ashy at the finish. Not all that sweet. Not as smooth as I would expect in an oatmeal milk stout either and a bit lacking in body.

@ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Opaque black with a firm 1/2" deep tan head, bands of lace. Bitter edged toasted malt begins this brew, with the bitter never allowing the silky oatmeal and milk chocolate to take center stage. Not so bad, though, as what is present is a very good stout. Recommended.

Pint pour, on tap at BLVD in Minnetonka. Consumed on 9-26-14. Pleasant aroma features a chocolate milk scent. Pours dark brown with taupe head. Roasted and chocolate milk taste. Nice combination of stout dryness and sweetness. Dry finish. Nice aftertaste that matches the finish. Medium body. Enjoyable though not outstanding overall.

On tap at Winterfest ’11. Hazy brownish pour, white head. Aroma has notes of oat, milk, some coffee, and some roast. Taste is nice toffee, coffee, roast, leading into oats and earth, slightly bitter finish.

Sample at Winterfest. From notes. Not at all what I expected. Getting a lot of smoke on this one. Nose is some smokey coffee and chocolate. Flavor is much the same, with some interesting bready oats. Thick and rich mouthfeel, the highlight of this beer.

Black w/ brown head. Coffee & chocolate on the nose. Roasted malt, milk chocolate, dark fruit, coffee & a bit of vanilla. Taste is quite mellow and creamy - very nice texture. Medium body. They did this very well.
