COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

Looks like a fresh pint of black coffee, near zero clarity, thin latte cap. Smells of fresh cream, oily coffee beans, sweet honey, more coffee, really a pleasant aroma I think. Taste - milk and oatmeal as promised, aftertaste like a dark roast with half and half, the oats take a back seat to the lingering latte flavors - mouthfeel could stand to get beefed up a bit. Overall, this is a solid offering from a brewery that is really hit or miss for me, I’d recommend this to any stout fan

Pours pitch black. Seriously. I held it up to light and could not see through it. Brownish tan head. not much lacing on the glass. Smells of roasted coffee, chocolate and molasses. Taste is bitter chocolate, coffee, roasted malts. Nice creamy mouthfeel with little carbonation and silky smooth on the palate. I enjoyed this Milk Stout through and through.

Had this at a tasting at the Four Firkins grand opening in Minneapolis. Has an awesome arome of chocolate and coffee and the taste matches the scent. Has a nice smooth taste going down as well.

Bottle: The aroma is a nice mixture of chocolate, roasted coffee, and a hint of nuts. It pours a dark brown with no transparency and a one finger tan head that fades to a thin film and leaves spotty lacing. The flavor starts with moderate milk chocolate and a touch of vanilla. The finish has light-moderate roasted coffee and a hint of fruit. It’s medium bodied with soft carbonation and mouthfeel. Overall, a very nice Sweet Stout and I can definitely see myself drinking plenty of this in the near future.

Dark brown pour. Light brown head. Tons of coffee, chocolate, cocoa, roast, ashy notes. Flavor is loaded with roast and coffee, dry, lightly sweet. Nice stuff!

Thanks to mnbearsfan for this 12 oz bottle via trade. Poured a thin black with a mocha/tan small one-finger head. Nose was some smoke/ash, chocolate, molasses and brown sugar. Taste was vanilla, oatmeal, chocolate and coffee as was expected, but also some fruit (cherries?). Body was smooth but thin with medium carbonation. Overall, a good offering in a style I like, but I have found others I like more.

12 oz bottle: Aroma is wonderful chocolatety, nutty, roasted notes, oatmeal, almost a milk like scent, and just the slightest bit of alcohol. Appearance is a deep dark black with a medium to thick tan head that lingers. Taste is like malty chocolate milk, but in a really really good way. This stuff goes down super easy and for a big malty brew is quite drinkable. Overall, Really nice I like this one a lot. Cheers!

$2 single at HyVee, Ankeny, IA. Nice sweet cocoa nose from the first pour. Filling a whole glass just brings out more of that milk chocolately goodness. Brownish-black in the glass, with a thick brown head. Taste is not as sweet as the nose would lead you to expect, but that’s not a bad thing. Instead, I get a regular malty sweetness of dark roast malt without being overdone. Not that estery, instead a good balance of malt with, well, malt. Bitterness is just there for support, except for a slight tickle at the top of the palate. Plenty of body to this, even though it goes down easily and quickly. Now I’m wishing these guys would expand to our area.
