Moo Joos combines the full body of a Milk Stout with the silky smoothness of an Oatmeal Stout. Lactose sugar in the boil contributes a full and creamy mouthfeel while toasted and flaked oats in the mash round out the beer with an oily texture. A deep malt bill builds layers of roasty notes with hints of chocolate, coffee and anise. A traditional British Cask Yeast is then pitched, which leaves us with a fruity, malty ale.

12 oz bottle was a favorite find on my latest annual December pilgrimage to southern Minnesota. Pours an opaque dark brown with a slight tan head and spotty lacing. The first sip made me say WOW! Itís so different, I almost hesitate to call it beer. (Chocolate milk? Dark egg nog?) Aroma is chocolate and anise with some roasted oats and definite milk. Body is full and texture is oily. Not much carbonation, and very easy to enjoy drinking. Kudos to Brau Bros. for the concept and craft. Iíll gladly check out their other strange brews.

UPDATED: JAN 24, 2013 12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Very good aroma, coffee scent. Nice, creamy pour with some head. Great taste and almost an oily finish, but very nice. Sweet with strong coffee notes but not overpowering. Very nice from a town of 220 people

12oz bottle picked up in Duluth. Opaque brown-black with a massive, steady, soapy rusty beige head. A rather well made offering, nails the style. Big milk chocolate tones, some nice bready oats. Subtle balance of bitterness, from the cocoa to the hops. Lots of lactic tones. Bitingly bitter up front, but fades into a sweet finish. Solid.

Bottle pour. Really like the creaminess here. Good malty character balanced out with the earthy oats.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle into a snifter. Pours a still, dark brown to black. The aroma has nice coffee, chocolate, roasty, and lactic sweetness. Some burnt caramel comes through as well. The taste is like a choclate covered espresso bean. Really like the way this beer tastes. I wish this had a little more carbonation. Thatís all thatís really keeping this beer from being a standout.

Earthy aroma, a little malty and toasty. Starts out with a little sweetness and zest in the mouth which quickly transitions to a slightly bittersweet swallow and a pretty clean finish. Overall, a nice milk stout.

On tap, deep black with a medium tan head leaving a light lacing. Aroma is of caramel and coffee. Surprisingly light in body and oily, finishes clean. Tasted medium sweet and lightly bitter, chocolate and coffee. Overall, a great stout. Pairs well with a hearty meal (Shepherds Pie).
