3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a medium, well retained light beige head, with a bit of lacing, over a clear brown (SRM 24) body.....nose is light cocoa, coffee, chocolate....taste is cereal, light nutty tones, light toffee/caramel, cocoa, chocolate, finishing with a moderate, coffee, hop bitterness.....mouth feel medium, carbonation low. The hops were done with a relatively light hand (Fuggles), so that the malts come more forward than in many American Brown Ales. The result is a nicely balanced, slightly spicy, enjoyable Brown Ale. 3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours dark, almost black with lots of head. Flavor is nutty and somewhat boozy. Overall a nice brown ale. I really like Brau Brothers stuff right now.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Hmm, ringneck Braun… as in that bum cheater Ryan Braun? I’m sure it’s not but the name alone made me hesitant to try it. Upon opening, the beer is the absolute antithesis of Ryan Braun and gushed out of the bottle before I could get it over the sink or glass. Braun is perhaps the slowest and most boring pre at bat hitter in major league history and makes Mike Hargrove (the human rain delay) look fast. The beer pours a cherrywood brown with a mammoth brown crown that fades slowly. That aroma is grainy and sour with nuts, malt and caramel in the background. The taste is overly sweet with chocolate, nuts, a bit of breadiness and I do detect some raspberry as well. The body is a touch too sudsy and unbalanced as the 2012 Brewers Lineup with the sweetness lasting long after each sip. Perhaps my hatred for Ryan Braun has come through a bit too much, but this malt bomb of a beer just isn’t my thing.

3.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours with instant head that takes forever to settle. Hazy reddish brown color with a very dense 2 finger off white head with insane retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice thick soapy lacing on the glass, with a ton of carbonation streaming up. This is probably infected. Aromas of huge apple skins, caramel, molasses, toasted malt, bread, light chocolate, and light herbal hops. Way over the top apple notes makes finding anything else difficult. Taste of chocolate, caramel, biscuit, toast, nuttiness, brown sugar, light herbal hops, and light fruitiness. No bitterness on the finish with lingering notes of chocolate, biscuit, caramel, toast, nuttiness, and light herbal on the finish for a good bit. Good balance of malty flavors with no cloying sweetness. Low noticeable infection traits in the flavor. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming after the finish noticed. Overall, despite the obvious infection, this was still a pretty tasty brown ale. Good balance of some pretty robust flavors, and quite easy to drink. I am sure this is a great beer without bugs in it.

Bottle poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of cocoa, carmel, light raspberry and light earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of cocoa, carmel and light raspberry with a smooth lingering fruity carmel finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz. bottle pours a clear chestnut brown with a small beige head and practically no lacing. Smells of roasted malts and yeast. Aroma has hints of chocolate and fruit (raspberry?) The finish is slightly sweet, clean, and satisfying. As Minnesotans would say to praise this: not bad at all.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark brown. Very small white head. No lacing. Somewhat sweet aroma of molasses and dark fruit. Excellent nutty flavor with some roast. Medium Palate, but strong flavor makes it feel thicker. My first beer from this brewer. Overall a good beer, but really close to being an excellent beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle from Siciliano’s Market in Grand Rapids, MI. Pours a clear, deeper brown colored body with a thin, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel and nuts with a touch of molasses. A bit of a wet cereal, a hint of fruit, and a light chocolate. Flavor is similar. Nutty caramel and some chocolate up front with a touch of biscuity cereal malts. Some toffee comes in as this finishes with a light, but balanced earthy bitterness that accompanies the malt sweetness nicely. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a very smooth, medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really solid, well balanced, easy drinking brown ale. Nutty caramels, a light chocolate, a hint of fruit, and a balanced earthy bitterness making this pretty enjoyable. This was not exceptional, but it was very well done.
