COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ring Neck Braun Ale is the initial offering in the Brau Single Batch Series of beers. A perfect autumn ale, this big double nut brown ale is dry and fruity, yet surprisingly drinkable. Nutty flavor is derived from both biscuit malt and toasted oats. A hint of raspberry and classic British hops round out this mild and complex brown ale.

Cellarís tasting. Dark brown color with a thin head. Chalky and slightly nutty aroma. Lots of dry chocolate, nut and bone dry malt taste. Really quite tasty.

12oz bottle. Deep burgundy-brown color. Thin, oily head. Fuggles and sweet specialty malt aroma. A pretty well done, complex, American Brown ale. Sweet and malty, not unlike a good Scotch ale at times, but the oats make it quite Stout-reminiscent. Throw in the pleasantly mellow raspberry tones at the end and you have quite an interesting beer. Toasty nut notes as well. I get a nice bitterness in the aroma, but the malt really dominates, soft carbonation, true to style I suppose. Worth seeking out.

Appearance: Pours a clear, dark brown body with a small ring of bubbles. Smell: Mild, chocolatey aroma with a hint of biscuit, caramel, nuts, and even some spearmint. Taste: Caramel malts with some light hints of chocolate and nuts. Soft, earthy bitterness. Dry, minty finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: A pretty average, though drinkable brown ale.

Big thanks to Probiere for getting me this brew I otherwise would never have tasted! Brown 12 oz bottle. Pour is nice and dark brown with a thin scummy top, no head. No gunk on the bottom of this bottle even tho it doew appear to be a little hazy, wait, maybe thats fog on my glass. Malty choco aroma. Medium strong yet choco malty on the first taste too. During the commencement, the alky content is not quite apparent as 6.7%. While into the session roasty flavors continue with an initial alky shock that hangs for just a moment or two after each slug. Some carbonation in there. Almost done and still donít think this is above 6%. Not bad overall.

Hmm, ringneck BraunÖ as in that bum cheater Ryan Braun? Iím sure itís not but the name alone made me hesitant to try it. Upon opening, the beer is the absolute antithesis of Ryan Braun and gushed out of the bottle before I could get it over the sink or glass. Braun is perhaps the slowest and most boring pre at bat hitter in major league history and makes Mike Hargrove (the human rain delay) look fast. The beer pours a cherrywood brown with a mammoth brown crown that fades slowly. That aroma is grainy and sour with nuts, malt and caramel in the background. The taste is overly sweet with chocolate, nuts, a bit of breadiness and I do detect some raspberry as well. The body is a touch too sudsy and unbalanced as the 2012 Brewers Lineup with the sweetness lasting long after each sip. Perhaps my hatred for Ryan Braun has come through a bit too much, but this malt bomb of a beer just isnít my thing.

Decently malty flavor, overall not a bad brown ale and a pretty good offering from Brau Brothers.

This was from a tasting but I have another bottle in the garage. Very smokey flavor, well rounded flavor, notes of nuts and roastedness, dry. Brown. O.k. Bottle.

Pours a beautiful reddish brown color with a very small well retained head. The aroma is fruity and very nutty with a bit of toffee and leaf rot with just a tad hint of chlorine. The flavor is strong with molasses up front but this gives way to all sorts of pleasantries like cocoa and vanilla, nuttiness and roastiness.... just tons of malt flavor without being really sweet at all. The beer is moderately bitter but really well balanced. Just the best Brau Brothers beer Iíve had yet, the best one by a mile.

12oz bottle from Sicilianoís Market in Grand Rapids, MI. Pours a clear, deeper brown colored body with a thin, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel and nuts with a touch of molasses. A bit of a wet cereal, a hint of fruit, and a light chocolate. Flavor is similar. Nutty caramel and some chocolate up front with a touch of biscuity cereal malts. Some toffee comes in as this finishes with a light, but balanced earthy bitterness that accompanies the malt sweetness nicely. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a very smooth, medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really solid, well balanced, easy drinking brown ale. Nutty caramels, a light chocolate, a hint of fruit, and a balanced earthy bitterness making this pretty enjoyable. This was not exceptional, but it was very well done.
