COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ring Neck Braun Ale is the initial offering in the Brau Single Batch Series of beers. A perfect autumn ale, this big double nut brown ale is dry and fruity, yet surprisingly drinkable. Nutty flavor is derived from both biscuit malt and toasted oats. A hint of raspberry and classic British hops round out this mild and complex brown ale.

A mediocre brown but spectacular compared to the pale ale. Nutty and mildy roasted with a residual sweetness.

Tap. Lovely beer that caught my eye across the room. Caramel and yeast on the nose. Sweet flavor.

UPDATED: APR 7, 2014 average brown ale...i thought this would be a lot tastier like previous brau bros beers i have tried...a little recipe tweaking and this could be real good.

bottle. Brown with small head. Below average brown ale. Thin mouthfeel, and moderate off-flavors. Tastes like it’s been sitting around for too long, but that doesn’t appear to be the case here.

Large mug poured at Lyon’s Pub. Copper in color with small head. Smell is like a syrupy, old coffee left out for too long. Taste is...not good. Something really unpleasant...maybe burnt sugar mixed with bitters. There are some sour fruit elements. Not much complexity or enjoyment with this option. Avoid.

A surprisingly good brown ale and very unique too. Aromas of strawberry and bubblegum. A touch of sour cherry too. Smooth nutty flavors to go along with sour fruit notes. Very good.

Brown black color almost color of a great root beer, head is tan with some frothy bubbles. Anise, chocolate, smoke in the aroma. Medium to light body, flavors are melded together, anise, chocolate, sweet dark malts, balanced finish. This is tasty but nothing special.

Single bottle from HyVee. For a "single batch" beer, it sure gets around. I chose a Nonick pint to pour it into; comes out a rather yellowish brown. Smell is lots of brown roast malts, some nuttiness, and even a hint of coffee. Head dwindles quickly to a scrum. Taste is loaded with nut brown malts with a bit of peat. Some earthy and herbal English hops take the usual ale esters out of consideration. A big mouthful of flavor makes it easy to simply enjoy one and put the rest away for later. Not too much later, I get the feeling this would not age well.
