COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ring Neck Braun Ale is the initial offering in the Brau Single Batch Series of beers. A perfect autumn ale, this big double nut brown ale is dry and fruity, yet surprisingly drinkable. Nutty flavor is derived from both biscuit malt and toasted oats. A hint of raspberry and classic British hops round out this mild and complex brown ale.

Hmm, ringneck BraunÖ as in that bum cheater Ryan Braun? Iím sure itís not but the name alone made me hesitant to try it. Upon opening, the beer is the absolute antithesis of Ryan Braun and gushed out of the bottle before I could get it over the sink or glass. Braun is perhaps the slowest and most boring pre at bat hitter in major league history and makes Mike Hargrove (the human rain delay) look fast. The beer pours a cherrywood brown with a mammoth brown crown that fades slowly. That aroma is grainy and sour with nuts, malt and caramel in the background. The taste is overly sweet with chocolate, nuts, a bit of breadiness and I do detect some raspberry as well. The body is a touch too sudsy and unbalanced as the 2012 Brewers Lineup with the sweetness lasting long after each sip. Perhaps my hatred for Ryan Braun has come through a bit too much, but this malt bomb of a beer just isnít my thing.

Big thanks to Probiere for getting me this brew I otherwise would never have tasted! Brown 12 oz bottle. Pour is nice and dark brown with a thin scummy top, no head. No gunk on the bottom of this bottle even tho it doew appear to be a little hazy, wait, maybe thats fog on my glass. Malty choco aroma. Medium strong yet choco malty on the first taste too. During the commencement, the alky content is not quite apparent as 6.7%. While into the session roasty flavors continue with an initial alky shock that hangs for just a moment or two after each slug. Some carbonation in there. Almost done and still donít think this is above 6%. Not bad overall.

Pours clear, ruby tinted medium brown with a small, creamy, off white head that has good retention. Aroma is lots of buttery toffee, creamed corn, cereal grain and biscuit. Flavor is more buttery toffee, buttered popcorn Jelly Belly jellybeans, toasted nuts, sweetish cereal malts, light fruity notes and a bitter planty note toward the finish. Palate is light bodied slightly slick and moderately carbonated.

Large mug poured at Lyonís Pub. Copper in color with small head. Smell is like a syrupy, old coffee left out for too long. Taste is...not good. Something really unpleasant...maybe burnt sugar mixed with bitters. There are some sour fruit elements. Not much complexity or enjoyment with this option. Avoid.

Copper color. Malt aroma. Not really complex, with mild malt flavor, just a hint of nuts, and unprocessed grain, and sadly light chemical flavor. An OK session beer.

A better than average brown ale. There is a light smoke aroma that includes oatmeal. Heavy palate, and a simple brown color.

12 oz bottle, via tytoanderso. Pours a clear very dark brown body under a very small quickly fading fizzy beige head. The nose is heavy cooked veggies with lots of husky graininess. Just very slight nutty and chocolate notes getting through. The flavor is very bland with all that cooked cabbage flavor dominating everything. A little chocolate malt and mild bitterness. The nuttiness is more of a hazelnut character. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a watery texture and moderate fizzy carbonation. Something is very wrong here, or this is just really bad beer. I hope for the breweryís sake itís just my bottle.

bottle. Brown with small head. Below average brown ale. Thin mouthfeel, and moderate off-flavors. Tastes like itís been sitting around for too long, but that doesnít appear to be the case here.
