COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ring Neck Braun Ale is the initial offering in the Brau Single Batch Series of beers. A perfect autumn ale, this big double nut brown ale is dry and fruity, yet surprisingly drinkable. Nutty flavor is derived from both biscuit malt and toasted oats. A hint of raspberry and classic British hops round out this mild and complex brown ale.

This was from a tasting but I have another bottle in the garage. Very smokey flavor, well rounded flavor, notes of nuts and roastedness, dry. Brown. O.k. Bottle.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours with instant head that takes forever to settle. Hazy reddish brown color with a very dense 2 finger off white head with insane retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice thick soapy lacing on the glass, with a ton of carbonation streaming up. This is probably infected. Aromas of huge apple skins, caramel, molasses, toasted malt, bread, light chocolate, and light herbal hops. Way over the top apple notes makes finding anything else difficult. Taste of chocolate, caramel, biscuit, toast, nuttiness, brown sugar, light herbal hops, and light fruitiness. No bitterness on the finish with lingering notes of chocolate, biscuit, caramel, toast, nuttiness, and light herbal on the finish for a good bit. Good balance of malty flavors with no cloying sweetness. Low noticeable infection traits in the flavor. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden with only a small warming after the finish noticed. Overall, despite the obvious infection, this was still a pretty tasty brown ale. Good balance of some pretty robust flavors, and quite easy to drink. I am sure this is a great beer without bugs in it.

Had on tap at Winterfest 2013. Decent cocoa scent, bit of chalk taste with a bit of copper.

Bottle pour. Nuts abound here with that being the big take away in my mind.

Nice, almost-nitro-like head on initial pour that doesn't linger too long. Carbonation brings back tiny bubbles with a quick swirl of glass or hard set down. Strong chocolate and raspberry aroma notes. That's matched with equally strong chocolate alongside very earthy / nutty, slight coffee, plus a nice dose of raspberry fruit flavor. A nice pint or two to savor slowly.

Tap. Lovely beer that caught my eye across the room. Caramel and yeast on the nose. Sweet flavor.

On tap at the brewery (Marshall, MN). Poured clear, dark brown, small tan head no real lacing. Aroma of nut, mats and even some chocolate. Taste is nutty, lots of malts coffee and chocolate. Nice, very drinkable.

Friend of mine gave me a bottle on the day it was released. Pheasant season opener 2007. Very nutty flavor with strong chocolatey tones. A lot more complex than I thought it would be. Impressed and can’t wait to visit the Brauhaus sometime and taste all there selections.

Bottled sample via oakbluff. Brown-red in colour with medium (albeit somewhat spritzy) carbonation. Aromas of vanilla fudge, a bit of strawberry and raspberry, and some toasted malt. A bit fruit forward in the mouth (raspberry again) with more mild chocolate, toasted nuts, and a bit of earthy British hop. More sweet than roasty. Would be fairly heavy in the mouth if not for the carbonation tingle. A bit too fruity for me, but still fairly nice.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2014 Tap. Brown cola pour with a clingy white head. Aroma of caramel and yeast. Medium mouthfeel. Taste is reflective of the aroma. Very nice brown ale.
