3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Pigfoot (2267) - Minneapolis, USA - JAN 15, 2008
Appearance: opaque, ruddy brown, small head.
Aroma: caramel & nuts, nice and malty, good and toasty.
Taste: medium-bodied, with flavor of nuts, and toffee. Dry finish. Grows in complexity through the life of the drink. Getting a deeper feel that reminds me of a Belgian dubbel...makes me wonder what the malts are. Hops seem to be on the way-down-low, but are around here somewhere.
Missing something, though, could use a little this, a little that, to make it memorable.
But quite good...As an autumnal seasonal, not bad at all...I can feel the warmth, already.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 ccex (249) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 29, 2011
12 oz. bottle pours a clear chestnut brown with a small beige head and practically no lacing. Smells of roasted malts and yeast. Aroma has hints of chocolate and fruit (raspberry?) The finish is slightly sweet, clean, and satisfying. As Minnesotans would say to praise this: not bad at all.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 wmubronco1992 (412) - Coldwater, Michigan, USA - DEC 1, 2011
Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark brown. Very small white head. No lacing. Somewhat sweet aroma of molasses and dark fruit. Excellent nutty flavor with some roast. Medium Palate, but strong flavor makes it feel thicker. My first beer from this brewer. Overall a good beer, but really close to being an excellent beer.

Clear brown, beige head. Nutty, coffee, bready aroma. Flavor is sweet, yeast cake, brown sugar. Not all too bad.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Pawola22 (2203) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - NOV 5, 2011
12oz bottle from Siciliano’s Market in Grand Rapids, MI. Pours a clear, deeper brown colored body with a thin, creamy, beige head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel and nuts with a touch of molasses. A bit of a wet cereal, a hint of fruit, and a light chocolate. Flavor is similar. Nutty caramel and some chocolate up front with a touch of biscuity cereal malts. Some toffee comes in as this finishes with a light, but balanced earthy bitterness that accompanies the malt sweetness nicely. Fairly lengthy aftertaste following a very smooth, medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a really solid, well balanced, easy drinking brown ale. Nutty caramels, a light chocolate, a hint of fruit, and a balanced earthy bitterness making this pretty enjoyable. This was not exceptional, but it was very well done.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 joeymacaroni (309) - Wagontown, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 3, 2011
pours a beautiful deep chestnut color with a thin, off-white head. nose is heavy with brown sugar, toffee, nuttiness, and a light butterscotch. flavor is similar to aroma, with a bit of breadiness and dark fruit. nice and light, oily with a light bubbliness in the finish. finish is long, with a sweet maple syrup-like flavor balanced by walnut and toffee.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pailhead (3435) - Plymouth, Michigan, USA - OCT 17, 2011
Bottle: The aroma consists of light chocolate, caramel, fruit, and nuts. It pours a transparent (when held to the light) brownish-red with a one finger beige head that quickly fades to a soapy film. The flavor starts with a quick dose of light chocolate and caramel. The finish has some fruitiness and some light roasted nuts. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, an okay Brown Ale, but the fruitiness seems slightly out of place.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jb43 (1648) - Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA - SEP 21, 2011
(bottle 6/12/11). Clear brown color. Medium off white head, which is mostly diminishing. Moderate chocolate aroma. Flavor of the same, with light toast/malt. Avg duration. Dry finish. Thin texture. Soft carbonation. Spare lacing.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RyanMM (410) - Ferndale, Michigan, USA - AUG 29, 2011
Pours a dark ruby-brown, little head to speak of. Aroma is heavy with nuts, fruit, and biscuity malt notes. Smooth, creamy, low on the carbonation but without coming across as flat. Nice sweet nuttiness up front, finishing with biscuit and chocolate notes, without much in the way of hop bittering. Pretty damn tasty and not at all what I’d expected from the bottle. My first from these brewers and certainly won’t be my last.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 benfergy (151) - Valley City, North Dakota, USA - AUG 24, 2011
The aroma of the Braun Ale is very similar to oatmeal, with some caramel, and a very faint hint of pine as well. It’s not incredibly complex on the nose, but when sipping, the aroma comes through stronger. The palate is very smooth and also full bodied. Overall, a quite impressive beer in a style that I’m usually apathetic about. Try it out.
