COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed to drink long winter sessions of our favorite card game. Extensive dry hopping combined with a formidable malt bill creates the hoppiest beer in Redwood County!

UPDATED: JAN 3, 2014 Pours a hazy golden-orange color with medium foamy white head. Strong earthy, piney hops aroma. Hops definitely dominate the flavor but it’s balanced nicely with some sweet and citrusy maltiness. Notes of orange, grapefruit, piney cascade hops, grassy floral hops, and some sweet cereal malts. Long hoppy finish. This is better than expected; much more complex and a fuller mouthfeel. Very good ale from Brau Bros.

Bottle pours copper gold with small head and some residual sheets. The aroma is quite fruity, almost surprisingly fruity, cookies, and some floral stuff. The flavor is nicely bitter, malty, fruity, and quite decent actually with a rather substantial palate. Iím pleased.

Pours copper/brown. It is a sweet malty beer with some fruity hop highlights. Very malt forward for a pale. Alchohol is very present. A bit too sweet for me. I will have to say they are getting better. The first Brau beers I tried tasted like extracts that could be done at home.

Iím sure this beer is past its prime, but I have no mercy in rating if thereís no best-by date on the bottle. Wish more brewers would do this. Pours a dirty orange with no head and not much lacing. Aroma is caramel and sour yeast. Taste is a yeast bomb, then some funky malt, then a moderately bitter finish that dries out. From the other reviews, this was likely a bad batch or old bottle. Just noticed itís a winter seasonal, so itís probably at least 8-9 months old. Hops are a mere afterthought, making me think somethingís not right here... Iíll finish the bottle, but only because the other Brau Brothers bottle I just opened was spoiled as well and Iím not pouring two bottles down the drain in a single night. Get it together, people.

Sheep Head is a nice IPA. The hop profile is delightful and the malt balance is prominent, but not overpowering.

Looks thick; clear brown with a white head. Smells sweet though the floral hops sneaks through. Perfect blend of sweetness and hops make very drinkable. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Tap. Deep maroon in color with a small white head. Huge caramel malt aroma profile. Iím not able to get any real hop presence which is disappointing. Taste is large amounts of malt with flavors of caramel, sugary chocolate cereal, and a small bitter finish. It isnít that bad, actually. This is definitely a malt forward pale, but it is pretty good. Maybe a little lighter body with some hint of a hop presence and this would be better.

Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint. Pours an orange amber with a very large head. Lots of lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine hops with some dry malt. Begins with a very nice balance of strong citrus/pine hop taste (but not too much bitterness) and semi-sweet toasted malts, then suddenly turns very dry and bitter towards the finish. Very smooth and dry. Medium body and carbonation. Exceedingly drinkable due to the smooth body and great balance.

On tap Winterfest 2009 St. Paul MN. Pours a hazy orange color with a minimal head. Mild malts, strong bittering and dry hop notes. Hops are fresh and citric. Dry finish, medium bodied. Wasnít expecting much from this beer but was pleasantly surprised.
