on tap at the brewery, was mainly hoping to try their bock but they had this on tap instead. lightly hazed dark amber with a lingering off-white head and some decent lacing; aroma of toffee, wet hazelnuts; light grassy bitterness, quite clean, plenty of caramel sweetness. decent

On draught at the brewery tap. Cheeky or what? A Dusseldorf speciality from an Oberfranken brewery? Well I suppose if US craft brewers can do it, why not Bavarians - sorry, Franconians. Not a bad effort. You might reasonably guess Alt with your eyes closed. A bit sweeter than typical and none of the hullabaloo with the barrels but even so, I await Westphalian smoked ale.
