TAR (2346) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - MAR 13, 2013
Draught at Eichhorn in Dörfleins, October 2009: Straw yellow. Voluminous dollop of whipped foam. Fresh floral and herbaceous aromatics are accompanied by cracker dough, aniseed, and deeply fragrant lemon. Soft carbonation. Firm body. Sharp and spicy hop bitterness swiftly merges with sweet and crackery toasty malt and underlying caramelized sugars. Minerals lend scrubbing action and beautifully embrace the juicy backdrop which is chock full of invigorating lemony acids. Malt character is predominantly wafery and dry, yet brings ample softness, textural detail and depth as well. Distant haylike suggestions. Finishes cleanly and crisply mineralic, with a flash of cracker dough highlighting the fresh flowery hoppiness and ongoing lemony tang. A polished kellerbier with nice depth and balance.

Starts sweetish and fruity, with notes of honey and just the right amount of slight sourness to balance the sweetness. Mild carbonation. Light bitterness, peppery hops. Finish is a bit weak and again more sweet than bitter. Could do well with some more hops.
