Bottle. Cloudy messing colour, a little floculation, huge rocky golden head. Wonderfull spicy aroma: Honey, flowers, grassy hops. Good chewy body, honeyish malt, light salty edges, big grassy and aromatic hop notes. Sparkly smooth mothfeel. Yeasty fruit and armatic hoppy aftertaste. Lovely moreish beer.

Pours a gold color with a slight haze and an off-white head. The smell is grain, honey, grass. The taste is toasted malt, honey, mild fruit ending with some dryness. Light+ in body, a little oily with fine, active carbonation.

Many thanks to Rian! Malty-round, fresh-earthy, nice buttered in the end. Very round with a malty round body with lots of bitterness in the aftertaste. Nice and malty, round and sessionable.

Bottle from Landbierparadies. Orange-gold color, clear, tall, fine head. Clean pilsner malt nose, herbs, citrus, crackers, toast. Light malt, hoppy. Fruity flavor, apricots, oranges, grass. Nicely fruity with a good, hoppy finish. Not super special but very drinkable. Just a bit too sweet.

Half litre bottle, poured into over sized Tripel Karmeliet tulip. A: Bronze, copper colour, slightly hazy, large rocky head, good retention, lots of lacing. S: Citrus, bready, some freshness more reminiscent of North German beers. T: Cork, wheaty with s nice balance of bitterness and sharpness. M: Smooth, medium body, moderate carbonation. O: Decent summertime Kellerbier, didn’t do anything to stand out from an impressive crowd.

Bottle, best by Nov. 2014, purchased and consumed at the brewery in August 2014: Burnished golden. Broken but creamy, pasty, fine-bubbled foam. Pleasant aroma of fennel seed Spalt, fallen leaves, uncured hay, cookie. Lightly metallic, with a hint of ripe fruity esters. Soft and tight carbonation. Woody and herbal punch of Spalt hits the palate with an oil-rich bitterness as lemony acids sizzle beneath. Dry breadcrusty malt notes exude cleanly. Candyish lager yeast bite melds nicely with the ongoing hop-driven herbality. Plenty of rustic allure here with breadcrust, leaf decay and woody notes arising in unison. Fairly estery as well, with a vibrant kiss of peach backing the lemony hops. Finishes sweetly malty and toasty with breadcrust along with pronounced yeast and lush haylike pils-derived underpinnings. Generally am not a fan of this brewery, so was surprised to find this in good condition and noticeably more enjoyable than their kellerbier. Mouthfeel is nice and soft and the malt pretty clean and full. Good balance, too. Aroma doesn’t reveal a whole lot to my nose, but I enjoyed my glass and will gladly take this over the rest of the beers in their portfolio.

From bottle at Wagner-Brau Merkendorf. Dated best by November 2014.
Orange body with faint haze and a tall and lasting white head. Medium body, semi-sweet with medium bitterness. Somewhat hoppy in the mouth with orange-apricot fruitiness, malt provides honey malt sweetness with a toasted grain / bready character that is present more in the finish than the aroma. Festbier strength with a light dose of yeast. Aroma is a little dull, and the malt has some roughness. Not an outstanding beer as the rating average would suggest, but bottled kellerbier is typically dull.

Bottle from Landbierparadies, Nuremberg. Golden in colour with a slight, white, head and moderate carbonation. Sweetish, yet crisp, mlats, a touch of floral hop and a lengthy, bitter finish. Enjoyable.
