Bottled. Golden colour, mediumsized white head. Aroma is malts, some alcohol and nice grassyness. Flavourwise it’s quite the same, which makes a very drinkable bockbier.

TBone (12963) - Pori, FINLAND - APR 20, 2007
Bottled, Privatbrauerei Schuhmann Bischberg Sonnen Bock, alc. 6.8 %
Golden color, steady white head. Nicely hoppy, grassy aroma. Sweetish, malty, some grassy hops. Quite tasty. Grassy, bitterish finish. After sampling some 15 German bocks in two days, this one is quite good one among them. Very balanced.

Pale with a thick head. The aroma is somewhat bready. Firm and dry with some vaguely doughy pale malt character. Good bock.

Bottle (Helsinki Beer Festival 2007, Helsinki). Unsophisticated sticky rubbish which doesn’t hide the alcohol. Yuk. Didn’t want a second sip. (Given that I normally agree with oh6gdx and tbone_, I can only assume I had a duff bottle.)

Bottle (purchased at the Brauereigasthof): Big creamy, lasting white head, lively carbonation, golden coloured, malty-bisquity nose with a firm hayish-hoppy background; solid sweet-bitter flavour, soft MF, medium bodied; robust, lingering hoppy-bisquity finish with a tinge of alcohol in the bitter aftertaste. Good, hoppy franconian stuff..........

MoritzF (8590) - Bochum, GERMANY - DEC 24, 2007
(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a beautiful, slowly lacing blond foamy head. Citrus-fruity and slightly herbal hoppy nose with moderately sweet strawy malt and a tinge of honey. Sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Solid, a bit honey-fruity malty base with a balanced bitter hoppy and herbal touch from the beginning; well-rounded sweet-bitter and quite lasting finish with aromatic herbal hoppy accents. Quaffable pale Bock.

bottle at du sonne in bischberg. rich medium-dark caramel colored body with an off-white head. rich texture, sharp and oily. toasted chestnuts, oily piune tar, toffee, cocoa, rich almond syrup, caramelized maple-coated nuts... the descriptors just keep coming. exceptionally crisp and biting, evidence of perfect lagering time and temperature. nutty, sharp toffee presented in the finish with a medium-to-full body. wonderful.

bottle, thanks to Bochum! Clear golden yellow, big and creamy head. Ful-bodied, sweet and malty with an aromatic and lingering hoppy finish. Bitter-sweet, well-rounded! Superb brew!

Ernest (6318) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 23, 2011
Rated at the brewery/restaurant Nov 2011. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is moderately malty (grain, husks, bread), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of paint, concrete, bubble gum. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, unclean, husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Among the worst brews I had in the Bamberg region on this trip. Really clunky with a poor aftertaste. Very sad, just because I expect this place can do better.
