Bottle. Pours dark brown tan head. Nose/taste of smoked caramel, smoked wheat, banana, coriander and touch of smoky meat. Lighter medium body.

Pours dark brown, with an amber/reddish touch. Medium beige head. Almonds on the nose, along some banana, caramel and a faint notion of smoke. The alcohol is warming, but well hidden. Taste of caramel and almonds evolves into banana and spice. Can’t really taste the smoke. Overall not bad, but too expensive for what it is.

On tap at the beerbistro. Pours a dark orangey brown with average-sized eggshell-coloured head. Aroma is roasty/smoky with banana, nuts, candied fruit and brown sugar. Flavour is modestly roasty/smoky, candied banana, brown sugar, some dark fruits and light nuttiness. Average plus body. Nice.

Capped 750 from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pour looks brown, but against very strong light it’s copper/orange. Creamy tan head. Aroma of smoke and wheat. Med body or nearly. Flavor is smoky wheat. There’s a roasty malt aspect, but it’s a sort of one hit wonder. Smoky. Not that that’s a bad thing. :)

Promising initial aroma even as the bottle is opened, with almond, smoke, a touch of vegetal roast. The redish hazy look is a bit unexpected, but not off-putting. As it sits in the glass and warms slightly, an initial unfortunate vegetal flavour subsides, and a balanced (if a tad flat) mix of smoked nuts, caramel, wheat and typical weizen spice emerges. My score rises with the welcome evolution. Palate holds a nice weight, very textbook German weizen(bock?). Not too smokey, but enough for this fan of the style. Pretty decent.

The beer poured a muddy reddish brown colour with a 1" tan coloured head. The aroma was burnt wood, wheat, banana, clove, and a hint of spice. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour started off slightly sweet with notes of caramel and wheat before finishing with a smoky bitterness. Quite pleasant.

Drinking blind from a 75cl bottle. In the aroma alcohol, liquorice, syrup, malt. The unclear red brown beer has a small brown head. The sweet with bitter taste has caramel and Port in it. Medium carbonated.

Just realized this is a smoked beer............ not really in the mood for an smoked beer but I all ready opened it. Dark brown hazy body with a massive tan cap floating on top. Aroma seems off, slight sour, light smoke, possible soap, nose ends in an old wet pile of poplar logs. Taste is better, light smoke, fresh clean black dirt, possible cherry. I can drink this!! Yep cherry! Bitterness builds and builds the more you drink. Big pile of dirt left in my mouth after I’m done this bottle. ASH TRAY!!! The end!

650ml bottle pours a hazy brownish color with a finger and a half of off-white head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is light smoke with some fruity and earthy notes. Taste is a earthy and herbal hop bitterness with a light malty sweetness finishing with a light smokiness. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. An interesting brew for the style, a little light on the smoke, but overall, still tasty and nicely balanced. Recommended.

[Draught at beerbistro] Pours a murky brown with an average size semi-lasting creamy tan head. Aroma of smoke, banana and bubblegum followed by sugar, wheat and fruit. Dark fruity flavour along with some brown sugar, malt, very light smoke and some spice. A hint of alcohol as well. Medium bodied. Not as smoky as I expected but a good beer nonetheless.
