On tap at the brewpub: Deep amber coloured, hazy, firm creamy off-white head, that sticks to the glass; distinctive alcoholic-fruity nose (like a "Mon Cherie") with a very faint hoppiness; sweet flavour, full bodied; sweetish, warming, brandy-like alcoholic finish with a very faint bitterness in the aftertaste. Not bad, but absolutely no session-beer...............

Bottled, Dusseldorf gathering. Chestnut color, little head. Not overly sweet, roasted malt, some nuttiness, dry aftertaste, ok.

Dusseldorf Gathering, Bottled. Caramel and butterscotch aroma. Dark brown color, beige head, few lace. Light sweet, pretty bitter and on swallowing even a nasty bitterness, roasted malts, hints of licorice, light sticky. I’m sure this one will be better fresh on tap.

Brewery tap. Light orange color, dense head. Slightly buttery aroma. Buttery, malty flavor with raspberry. Sweet but also alcoholic. Rather dirty palate.

(draught at the brewpub) Hazy (?), very dark brown coloured hue with a beautiful, slowly lacing beige foam. Dusty, slightly ashy and moderately sweet malty aroma with roasted elements, spicy notes (cinnamon, liquorice) and a brandy-like alcoholic touch. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Strong malty taste, slightly roasted with caramel, spicy notes and a delicate fruitiness; sweet malty finish with a present alcoholic note. Okay, but one was enough.
