3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 pivnizub (7228) - Bochum, Porúří, - OCT 14, 2009
Bottle Vintage 2005 (#0622): Deep reddish-amber coloured, quite stable beige brownish head; mineralic-sourish nose with a light malty touch; solid sourish-sweetish flavour, full bodied; lingering sourish-sweetish fruity finish. Even though it was not intended to be an "Imperial Sour Ale", this infected Doppelbock was not too unpleasant.........
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Ungstrup (23922) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 27, 2012
Bottled - vintage 2005. A dark red-brown beer with huge lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of over ripe berries and brettanomyces. The flavor is sweet and acidic with notes of over ripe fruits, berries, and malt, leading to a tart finish. Drunk well within the best before date, but going bad - impressive with an ABV of more than 11%.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pinball (8562) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - JAN 19, 2012
2005 Bottle from papsoe.
Slow Lava-gusher, kept slowly spilling over until i poured a glass.
cloudy brown, small smooth offwhite to light brown head.
aroma is sourish, malty, raisins, toffee.
Flavor is sourish / fruity, malts, not much sweetness, sour raisins.
Unfortunate that it has gone sour, but then - braunstein at that time sold loads of sour bottles, so perhaps the bottle was not clean enough when they filled it up with beer. Lately, braunstein bottles i’ve had have been fine-fine.
would have been better if it was not infected, but as is, it tastes okay. The sour note resembles raisins a bit, just a little bit more sour than raisins.

/10/10/11/14/11

Bottle Nr. 0273. Looks simple, but good. Beer in the glass very dark, almost black. Malty, modest alcoholic aroma. Starts strong-malty, sourish, fruity like berry. Well balanced malty finish. Interesting.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ughsmash (5823) - Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA - MAY 26, 2010
2005 bottle thanks to sk8viking, #4146, 11.8% ABV. Poured deep, garnety-brown with a quickly-built, long-lasting dense beige head.. set up nicely in the glass. The aroma picked up sour metallic, dark fruit, and raisin notes upfront, backed by sweet caramel and more fruits.. picked up some cherry character from the off notes.. a little buttery on the back of the nose, with rising smoked ash present.. for all that wasn’t great here, the alcohol was definitely masked by the sugars. The flavor opened with tart berry seeds (raspberry and a little strawberry) backed by berry meat and smoked caramel.. not a lot of bitterness to note, but there was a lot of tartness.. more berries and smoke on the finish, over deeper-rooted caramel. Medium-bodied and very sugary on the palate.. the tartness was strange, but not necessarily infection-like (although it certainly could’ve been), and it grew on me as the drink progressed.. this was OK, but may have been better a few years ago.
1.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20 MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - DEC 28, 2009
(bottle, # 0622) Hazy, dark brown colour with a massive and slightly beige foamy head. Extremely sour, sorrel-like nose with yeasty fruity notes in the background. Sour flavour with a moderate carbonation. Sourish, slightly malty and fruity taste; obviously infected, although the label states best before Dec. 2016. Unfortunately I have no sense for Imperial Sour-Bocks. 07.X.09

From the Bottle at Chris O’s, GBBF Week 09/08/2008 (2005 Vintage)
Dark red coloured strong in alcohol and rich on the palate with a little bitterness in a crisp and dry lasting malt finish.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 OleR (3658) - Oslo, NORWAY - AUG 12, 2009
2006 Vintage bottle@Oslo Øljunta Olympen Gathering. Mediumsized tan head. Nut-brown, hazed body. Vinous aroma, cellar and must up front. Then a whiff of dark dried fruits and yeast. Yeasty flavor as well. Some fruitiness, and a weak malt body. Mildly hopped. Sparkling mouthfeel. Good body, alcohol well masked. Yeast, dark dried fruits and toasted malts in the finish. Absolutely drinkeable, but past its prime, I suppose.
