Draught@Plan B, Copenhagen. A lasting, fingerthick choco head resting on a opaque black body. Sweetish, ashy dark malts to the nose. Notes of dark dried fruits, sweet licorice and roastedness. Taste is dryish, medium roasted, light ashy dark malts. A fine wooden character. Notes of port and vanilla. Big body. Thick and smooth in the mouth. Lingering malty-bitter ending.

Draught. [Beer festival 2009] This was by far the best version in my opinion. As with the Bourbon barreled version, the most noticeable difference from the steel tank version was the diminishing notes of smoke. It seems like the wood barrels had soaked up some of the smoky notes and “replaced” it with the notes of (in this case) Port Wine aroma and flavor. This added to the overall complexity of the beer. Average beige head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Pitch black color. Aroma was quite complex with notes of sweet Port, wood, mild smoky notes, roasted malt, liquorish, dark chocolate, mild coffee, vinous and raisin, date notes in there as well. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and mild alcoholic and thick texture. Heavy sweet and bitter flavor in balance. Lingering smoked salami and roasted malty finish. By far the better René!

Draft. A black beer with a dark orangey head. The aroma is sweet malty iwth notes of roasted malt, and portwine. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, and portwine, leading to a dry roasted finish. Nice.
