This is the best of the 3 beers. The aroma is of smoke and sherry with notes of wood. Same with the flavor.

RBESG 2009 @ Harlequin. Growler. Pours dark with minimal creamy brown head.Hard roasted malts dominate some caramel and vanilla.Sweet roasty malt flavor.,vanilla, coffee a distant cherry sourness, but not so much port as I would have thought.

Copenhagen Beer Festival. So it’s called Sherry Oloroso but was aged in a Taylors Vintage Port barrel? What? Confused on the day and confused ever since about this one! Rich malt sweet stout. Can’t taste any barreling here. Decent but was expecting more from a such a fine Port Barrel.

[growler @ RBESG 2009, Grand Tasting] Potent black malt bubblegum aroma with some peat smoke and not a small amount of scotch tape. Oily black with a light brown cover and dots. Slightly salty, peat smoky flavour with vanilla, meaty, and roasty accents. Dry and vinous. Moderate bitterness from black malt. Velvety feel, low carbonation, slightly bitter finish.

From the Bottle at RBESG Harlequin, Sheffield 19/07/2009 Beige head. Rich aroma. Black strong in alcohol smooth and a little rich on the palate with some dryness in a coffee roast finish. This one was just about my favourite of the 3 versions of Braunstein Imperial Stout sampled back to back but all of them I found to be very nice indeed.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Black with a khaki head. Rich chocolate, light wood and smoke on the nose. Nice on the palate with flavors of sweet chocolate, roasted malts and sugar.
