A bit hollow. Slight metallic taste. Looks good in a glass, and starts off an evening on the right foot.

August 2016 - At GBBF 2016, with the Scopeys, as ’Braustelle Ehrenfelder Alt’. Hazy brown, opaque, bubbly white head. Aroma is apple, rye bread, fruit loaf. Body is smooth with tingly carbonation. Taste is resinous up front, twiggy, bready, light astringency. Decent enough alt. (3.4)

Cask gravity at GBBF 2016. It pours hazy mahogany brown with a decent off-white head. The aroma is soft, bitter - sweet, juicy, dried fruits, candy, toast, fruit cake, banana and light spice. The taste is crisp, bitter, pine, resin, dried fruits, wood, pine, resin, leather, dried fruits, juniper and earth with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent Alt.

Ehrenfelder Alt has a thin-to-medium, cream-colored head, with rather big, soapy bubbles, some lacing left on the glass, and a very dark brown, with red highlights appearance. Lots of caked, brown sediment, at the bottom will give this beer a milky look, it that junk is swished loose and poured in. The aroma is of rich, dark bread, raisin, prune, and a touch of both wood and smoke. Taste is of those elements, with possibly some rounding bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to medium, and Ehrenfelder finishes on the crisp end of it. RJT

bottle. Brown with one finger head. On the thin side, malty with nutty roast, and bit of astringent smokiness. Quite a bit of oxidation and cardboard. Finishes dry. Just seems slightly off.

Bottle from erzengel - Thank you!! Pours a orange/brown with some haze and a tan head. The smell is roasted malt, brown sugar and some fruit. The taste is toasty, crisp fruit, brown sugar ending dry and roasty. Light+ in body with average carbonation. Not bad.

Deep brown pour with a very lift carbonation. A rich toasty malt aroma with a bit of toffee and clean yeast profile. There’s a touch of oxidation but still some clean toasty character. The hops just add a woody accent to the malt sweetness. Straightforward and tasty alt.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate caramel, toffee, light fruit, smoke (although I didn’t initially notice it until after I took a drink) and faint nuts. It pours a dark brown that becomes a transparent reddish-brown when held to the light. It has a small beige head that fades to a thin film outlined by a soapy ring. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with very mild caramel/toffee. There is a quick dose of light fruit in the middle. The finish has light smoke with some hints in nuts to barely sneak past the smoke. It’s light-medium bodied with mild carbonation.
