mike1977ok (365), Netherlands Apr 28, 2008 Hazy brown colour. Sweet candy aroma. Scents of dried cherries, apricots, etc come through. Flavour is similarly sweet with a degree of spiciness coming through.

Dalle (1146), Viborg, Denmark Jul 29, 2004 Dark brown with large head. Malty-sweet, raisins, notes of maple syrup (yes, it’s sweet!?!), light acidity. Low carbonation in mine! IMO remniscent of Kasteel Donker. thebeertourist (1801), Oslo, Norway Jul 12, 2008 Bottle. Dark amber to copper colour with a lot of sediment. Good rye bread aroma with some alcohol. Dried fruit, alcohol, rye bread and spices in a harmonious blend. quite full-bodied. A nice Christmas treat. JorisPPattyn (4282), Antwerpen, Belgium Mar 3, 2004 Dark brown, reddish shine; grey-brown head irregular. Nice cypress smell, on tap of dark malts, and a soy-sauce (ketjap)aroma. Liquorice, (very) sweet stout-like. OK, but maybe just a bit one-dimensional. Very carbonated, at the verge of fizzy. Full-bodied, but sweetness makes it taste thinner than it is. Great nose, sorry about the palate. I do not think it's Proef who went wrong - rather the commissioners.
