Glouglouburp (4780) - Montreal, - SEP 13, 2009
In short: A very woody, caramelized and moderately hoppy beer. Very interesting woody character.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy brown body topped by an beige ring of foam
In long: Nose is wood, caramel and moderate hops presence. Taste is smooth caramel, lots of barrel wood (not particularly bourbon), resinous hops. I really enjoyed this one because of the way the wood dried out the beer. Something really nice about moving from smooth caramel, then a soft woody resinous bitterness and concluding with a nice woody dryness. I’m entering this as an IPA because the regular Mont Olympus is an IPA. However this didn’t taste like an IPA. Hard to categorised actually. I cannot compare say how it compares to the regular Mont Olympus since they only had the Barrel Aged version when I was at the pub. A very nice brew from this northern state where lobster stands outnumber internet cafes with a 100 to 1 ratio.
