COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mount Olympus Special Ale is one of those beers designed over a few pints, then adjusted over a few batches that just doesn’t fit into any beer style categories. The best we can do is describe it as a dark IPA. The ale contains a lot of two row malted barley with a little chocolate malt and roasted barley for flavor and color. It is well hopped with Centennial for bittering and copious amounts of Cascade hops for flavor and aroma, including dry-hopping. The original gravity of this beer is approximately 1.060.

On tap at the brewery’s "One night stand" event. Pours a dark amber brown with a thin white head. Smells very nice, good ek goldings aroma and flavor too. There’s a bit more malt flavor in there than your normal IPA, i’d call this a weaker tasting imperial india pale ale. Pretty damn good beer though.

On tap at the brewpub in Naples, ME. Pours a clear, darker amber-brown colored body with a finger-width, creamy and frothy, tan head that dissipates slowly and leaves a moderate lacing. Aroma is earthy and floral citruses with a bit of a chocolate malt up front. A light roast mixes with a touch of pine and a light caramel. Flavor is similar. A smooth, light chocolate and slightly sweet toffee bread with lots of florals and earthy citruses up front. A moderate roast comes in during the middle as the chocolate smooths out a bit and some more citrusy pines come out towards the end. Finishes dry with a moderate bitterness from the hops and light roast backing, but there’s an underlying tootsie roll chocolate that shows up in a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, it seems like this is more on the IPA side of the Black IPA side of things. Pretty hoppy with a light roast backing as well as a bit of a tootsie roll chocolate maltiness. Well balanced and easy drinking. Nice beer.

Dark amber. Roasted and citric. Chocolate notes as well as a touch of sourness. Pungent hoppy aftertaste and no hint of the alcohol. Medium body. Not a huge IPA, but a decent seasonal.
