2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
22oz bottle pours a hazy orange with some thin, sudsy, fading head. Nose has booze, butterscotch, buttery oak, malt, some green vanilla, mild dried fruit. Nose isn’t great. Flavor follows along, overly sweet, lots of tannic sweet tea, the pepper comes through, heat but also odd vegetal notes, some paint thinner. Thin, oily finish. Was not digging this.

Thanks Thomas! Aroma is bourbon, vanilla, no chili. Flavour is like a Ba barley wine, some slight chili flavour, but not heat. Chocolate is very present but the bourbon barrel really shines. Loved it.

Hazy amber gold pour with a creamy head. Aroma is coconut, vanilla, sweet malts, bourbon and peppery spice undertones. Sweetness upfront with heavy influence from the barrels, finishing more dry with cocoa and a light spice. Other flavours of orange marmalade, coconut, other fruits. Really good.

Bottle (22oz $15): Clear ruby brown. Aroma mostly bourbon and maybe carmel. Taste bourbon with slight chili and slight chocholate. Neather flavor is in your face which is good. Medium body. Good warming.

Pours a medium, white frothy head atop a deep brown hue. Nose of melted caramel squares and honey. Very sweet, almost too sweet... Almost, but it has a good boozy allure. The bourbon is definitely there but it’s not overrun by a cocoa malt much like most barrel-aged imperial stouts. This has refinement and personality. Some of the heat comes forward in the ABV but the chillies gives a final fist-pump. Purchased at Metro Liquors University Heights.

Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy amber color with small head. Aroma of green chillies, a bit dusty. The mouthfeel is a bit sweet; no distinctive flavor, a bit of sweeteners, dusty peppers; the alcohol is clearly perceived. Somehow messy and boozy.

Dark Amber brown color. Huge green coffee and bourbon nose. Sweet and malty with a touch of Christmas cake. Very heavy body with tons of bourbon and christmas cake. Excellent beer for December. Very full body, but never too boozy. Smooth. Great depth. Really nice.
