We’ve aged our flagship strong ale in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for the last several months, and the result is a complex and fiery brew. You’ll get notes of chile, chocolate, cherry, vanilla, and whiskey in this behemoth of a beer. On draught for a very limited amount of time; available in 750 ml Champagne-style bottles until they sell out!

Pours a medium, white frothy head atop a deep brown hue. Nose of melted caramel squares and honey. Very sweet, almost too sweet... Almost, but it has a good boozy allure. The bourbon is definitely there but it’s not overrun by a cocoa malt much like most barrel-aged imperial stouts. This has refinement and personality. Some of the heat comes forward in the ABV but the chillies gives a final fist-pump. Purchased at Metro Liquors University Heights.

Tasting at Matt’s
Hazy amber color with small head. Aroma of green chillies, a bit dusty. The mouthfeel is a bit sweet; no distinctive flavor, a bit of sweeteners, dusty peppers; the alcohol is clearly perceived. Somehow messy and boozy.

Pint at Devil Craft Hamamatsucho shared by Tim, thanks! Amber with off-white head. Aromas of bourbon, light chili pepper, subtle chocolate, caramel. Tastes of big bourbon and chili pepper, light chocolate and caramel. Medium-full body with a dry and warm peppery finish.

Dark Amber brown color. Huge green coffee and bourbon nose. Sweet and malty with a touch of Christmas cake. Very heavy body with tons of bourbon and christmas cake. Excellent beer for December. Very full body, but never too boozy. Smooth. Great depth. Really nice.

Nose is chili peppers, touch of chocolate sweetness, and bourbon. Flavor is huge vanilla/coconut from the bourbon barrel, date, mild chili pepper, even milder cocoa, and some caramel/toffee malt. Pretty boozy. This would be even better with a more assertive, fuller bodied base beer

650 ml bottle. Pours a mahogany color with moderate to light head. Aromas of wood, bourbon, dried fruit and maybe some burnt chilies. Flavors of raisins, toast, light bourbon, vanilla, and dried (but not hot) chilies. Bourbon forward on the nose but flavors are really well balanced - not overkill. Great stuff.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose has a bit of woody bourbon coming through in a way that doesn’t overwhelm the senses, and has just a hint of some chile in there. Taste has some chocolate poking through as well as the bourbon and chile, and is slightly sweet, though with a pleasant bite. Pretty smooth, too. Interesting brew.

Bottle - Lots of raw wood, sweetness and some vinegar heat. Cloudy copper with a decent beige head. Lots of oaky wood and dry fruit
