We’ve aged our flagship strong ale in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels for the last several months, and the result is a complex and fiery brew. You’ll get notes of chile, chocolate, cherry, vanilla, and whiskey in this behemoth of a beer. On draught for a very limited amount of time; available in 750 ml Champagne-style bottles until they sell out!

Bottle. Grape, bourbon malt aromas without burn, very sweet up front. Very sweet taste of dates, brown sugar, honey, smoke, a little dry in the finish. There is something in the middle palate that makes this beer delicious but I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Bottle... Pours mostly clear and dirty-orange with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The aroma is a malty swirl of caramel, toasted oak, bourbon and coconut. Full-bodied with busy carbonation. Malty, bitter, boozy flavor and finish. Leaves a good deal of chili pepper spiciness and alcohol heat behind.

Bomber. Pours a deep amber color with a half-inch of light tan foam. Mostly chile, whiskey, caramel malt and vanilla in the aroma. Taste is predominately bourbon, chili peppers and bittersweet chocolate along with some caramel, cherry and toasted oak in the finish. The bourbon barrel notes blend quite well with the spicy chile flavors. Curious to try the non-BA version for comparison.

22 oz bottle pour. Pours copper with a lasting fizzy, white head. Aroma is really strong peppers and some bourbon. Really spicy aroma. Almost overwhelming. Spicy pepper flavors with a really nice complimenting sweet chocolate. Finishes with a nice cherry vanilla, with the spice still present. Bonus points for being so unique. Not super smooth on drinkability, but decent flavor. Really good overall. Definitly feeling this one too. Quite impressed.

On tap at chucks. Fantastic otherworldly beer. The flavor profile is complex and layered yet it all works together into such a silken palate. I've never had a strong ale like this. Amazing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours murky reddish orange copper with extremely thin white head. Aroma is sweet, dry, slightly musty, oaky caramel malt. Taste is sweet syrupy caramel malt, somewhat thin body, light chili spice with mild heat retention, and sweet woody bourbon notes throughout that linger in the finish. Floral vanilla and just a hint of sweet cherries linger on the finish as well. A bit all over the place, but enough redeeming qualities to make it worthwhile.

On tap at Eastern Oregon Beer Festival pours a cloudy amber brew witha small white head. Aroma big on bourbon with pronounced presence of chili and spice. Flavor again bourbon, chili, and a bit of sweetness. Full mouthfeel. Long finish with chili and chocolate. Never had anything like it.. really enjoyed it!

Bottle from the Whole Foods off of Western, I believe. This has a dark copper, or caramel color to it. Somewhat of a lasting head - recedes to being wispy, eventually. Holy smokes there’s a lot of bourbon in that aroma, and it’s not really leaving room for much else. I’m getting bits of chili poking through, but damn, not much of it. There’s a light caramel sweetness coming of of the bourbon, mixed in with some vanilla. I think the bourbon crowds out the rest of what’s in there. Accent of chili, with a subdued bourbon that sticks around, but does leave room for the other flavors to come through, eventually. There’s vanilla, oak, chili, a hint of cherry, and that’s about it. If the cherry just poked out a little more, and the chili just gave a wee-bit more of a stronger kick, you’d have a nice spicy, and almost lightly tart beer. I feel that there’s a lot going on here, but it’s not very cohesive. The texture is quite nice, I must say; it’s nice, and slightly slippery, and coats rather well. I would say that you’re not really missing out on anything by not purchasing this, but if it’s available, you may want to give it a try.

On draught at Breakside Brewery’s 4th Anniversary Party. Hazy golden amber color. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, brown sugar, and light chili. Taste is vanilla, toffee, brown sugar, bourbon heat, rock candy, and subtle chili. Quite boozy with a sweet caramel aftertaste.

Brown in color, clear with a thin head. Super aroma and taste. Loved the bourbon flavors and the mix with the strong ale this was perfect.
