Tap. Shiny black with a thin brown head, no lacing. Aroma of roast. Flavor was roast, slightly smokey, and some light caramel though quite dry. Good basic every day stout.

Pours a near black. Good initial coffee taste that is followed by a load of BBQ and smoky notes which seem out of style to me. More of a rauch bier to me.

Tap at the brewery. Deep brown pour with an inch of cream colored head. Smells of cocoa, light coffee, some roast and earthy hop notes. Flavor profile pretty much the same, with a little dark fruit thrown in. Medium bodied and a pretty solid beer overall.

UPDATED: SEP 15, 2011 Tap @ the newly opened Fifteenth Ave Hophouse... Poured near pitch black with a thick light brown head. Nose was worty with some roast and chalky ash. Dry, mellow sweetness with coffee and roast while some yeast esters balanced the dark bitterness.

Draught. Pours black with thick beige head. Aroma is roast, with an unpleasant soapiness. Wonderful flavour, malt, chocolate, roast bread. Good finish, but not much of it. Light bodied.
