COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Formerly a collaboration with Ninkasi Brewing. IGA highlights the route that lots of new hop bombs are headed: light in body, lighter in color, and HUGE in citrus flavor and aroma. India Golden Ale or "I.G.A." is a showcase for two relatively new hops, Mosaic and Eldorado. Mosaic gives the beer a bright mix of stonefruit and tropical flavors along with a big piney backbone. Eldorados are fruity and soften the finish. Breakside keeps the malt bill incredibly simple to allow the hops to take center stage in this elegant and beguiling beer. 8.1% ABV 60 IBU malts: 2 Row, British Munich hops: Mosaic, Eldorado, Chinook

Crisp golden coloured body with a slight cloudy orange glow and a nice, small two centimetre tall off-white head that fades relatively fast. Aroma of resin, earth, grapefruit, pine, alcohol, cleanser and a bit of toffee. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong resinous hop flavour at first with a lot of bitterness and pungency from the hops with a very smooth sweetness from apricots and fruits and a mellow but balanced malt backbone showing some earth and toffee. Aftertaste shows an almost perfect balance of hops and malt with a good sweet finish, a bit of resin and pine bitterness near the end, all with some fruit flavours to wash it down. Overall, a well-structured and fruity beer that shows less hops than I expected (for the style and a PNW based beer) but a better balance and elegance than I expected as well. Nice to try and well worth grabbing if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 05-May-2015 for US$6,02 sampled at home in Washington on 27-September-2016.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Light tropical fruit aroma with light grapefruit. Tropical fruit and grapefruit flavor. Medium bodied. Decent bitterness. Tropical fruit and grapefruit linger.

Appearance: slightly hazy pale gold with two fingers of fluffy ivory head, excellent retention and chunky lacing. (4/5) Aroma: dank resiny pine, caramel malt, tropical fruit, light floral. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, moderate-high bitter. (7/10) Medium slightly slick body, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter finish. (4/5) Slightly elderly, perhaps - I’m not entirely certain of my interpretation of the smeary date stamp - but still decently hop-forward, with a pleasantly sweet caramel malt base. The fairly high ABV is well integrated, and never intrudes, making this dangerously drinkable. No, it’s not the most impressive DIPA I’ve ever had, and I’d probably like it more if it were brighter, but it’s still an enjoyable example of the style. (15/20)

22 oz bomber. Pours slightly hazy bright yellow with a big frothy white head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is lots of dank resiny piney hops.

The flavor is bready malt with some soft tropical fruit and a lot of brash dank resiny and slightly catty hops that pack a big bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, I remember liking this more on draft. It was a lot fruitier and not nearly as dank and resiny.

(En fût à la source): Des malts langoureux, machable et une pression tropicale collante et moelleuse. Délicieux.

Pours a very pale straw-yellow with a thin, but sticky, white head. I mean, you can literally see through this beer. It looks like a Miller Lite. Aroma is citrus, stone fruits, grass, faint pine and floral notes. Taste is grapefruit, pineapple, light, sweet and tropical upfront, then quickly morphing into a piney bitter swallow, cut from being too harsh by a hint of simple, sweet malt. Very nice; hard to imagine the amount of flavor from such a pale pour. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a semi clear yellowish with a medium size white head and very good lacing. Smell is of caramel, citrus, hops, floral, and some wood. Taste is a little creamy, bitter, some citrus, and a little caramel. Ends nicely bitter and a little bit of citrus.

Bottle pour avg gold with moderate white head. Nose grass, weedy, citrus, floral. I don’t know if it’s the pot dispensary on every other corner or if it’s the Pacific Northwest hops that have been giving these beers that aroma. Taste moderate bitter bite up front, then tropical fruit and resin. Good balancing sweetness. Lighter bitter finish.
