It’s mischief that happens in this dark American farmhouse ale. We’ve combined a Belgian saison yeast, dark malts, rich oats, sweet orange peel, and citrusy American hops into this unlikely brew. Close your eyes and we bet you won’t even notice you’re drinking a dark brew.

On draught at Breakside. For its dark appearance (and caramel foam head), a light and flavorful farmhouse. Lots of fruit notes.

On tap at Portland Craft, pours a hazy amber with a small off-white head. Nose is spicy, with notes of cacao, orange peel and some cinnamon. Flavour brings out notes orange peel, cocoa and yeast. Dry, spicy and well-balanced. Good stuff.

Clear light brown with a good beige head. Aroma is rose water (rye?), caramel, sweet orange peel, coriander, orange blossom. Light bodied, slightly thin mouthfeel, mild sweetness on the palate with a little spiciness to the dry finish. Taste is orange peel, saison spice.

Draft - Lightly soured dark malts with some Berry notes. Cleanish copper with a rich white head. Very funky and estery yeast with a bit of spice and peel. Way to much yeasty esters for me.

On tap at the brewpub in Portland, OR. Pours a deep brown colored body with a bit of a ruby hue. Finger-width, dense and creamy, brown head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is Belgian yeast giving off some apple and pepper notes, a darker caramel, earth, toast, a few dark fruits, orange peel, and some citrusy hops. Flavor is similar. Belgian yeast and citrusy hops up front with some earth, herbal pepper, darker caramels, toast, and orange peel. A few dark fruit notes as this finishes dry, somewhat spicy and yeasty, earthy, and lightly sweetened before leaving a lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and a moderate carbonation. Overall, a pretty solid beer. Clean, somewhat spicy, lightly sweetened, and decently hopped with a few citrus notes. Good one.

Draught. Pours dark brown with a thick head. Aroma is spice and orange. Lekker flavour, malt and hoppy enough, no oatiness. Spice finish. Worth seeking out.

Tap @ The BeerMongers Anniversary Fest... Poured dark brown with red highlights and a khaki head. Aroma of apples, figs, and black pepper yeast spice. Notes of peppercorns, roast, plums, figs, grapes/raisins and other dark fruits. hints of spices like cloves and anise, a soda-pop quality. Finished with clean spices and yeast tones.
