A dessert stout brewed with lactose caramel and fleur de sel, inspired by our friends Tyler & Kim Malek at Salt & Straw. Tyler has been working on perfecting a lactose caramel syrup that mimics the flavor in his sea salt and caramel ice cream. After a few test blends, weíre worried that this might be the most addictive dessert beer ever made.

650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a large, frothy, long lasting, tan head that laces nicely. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, caramel and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, vanilla and just a hint of salt in a mildly bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft to flat carbonation. Very tasty.

On draft at Beer Belly in Albany. The pour is a medium brown with hints of garner shining through there is a thin ring of khaki colored head that leaves a couple spots of lace. The aroma is pretty disappointing. There is a light caramel up front, but the bitter roast just moves in and takes over. The caramel vanishes and itís left with a dry dark cocoa powder. Eh. The flavor is not good. There is a lactose sweetness right up front and that same cocoa powder throughout. Itís dry and not that great. The salt is nowhere to be found and the caramel is incredibly lacking. The mouth feel is thin and light with a thin carbonation that makes this drink like chocolate water. The aftertaste is lightly bitter and cocoa based. This isnít a very good beer.

Roasty stout aroma. Flavor shows a little on the back end of the salt and caramel, but itís mostly just a nice stout. Looks nice, body a bit thin but smooth. Very pleasant aftertaste.

Draft at Rattle n Hum West with Linh, Brendan, Erica and Maggi. Pours a deep black/brown body with thick tan lacing. Super bitter roast and very ashy on the palate. Some sweet melted caramel and chocolate and lots of sweet sugary malts.

On tap at Alibi Room. Pours a very dark brown with a decent tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, roasted malt and a little salt on the background. Taste is sweet, roasted malt and some alchol notes, what is not really good as there is not much of alcohol. Burnt malt aftertaste. Would be better without alcohol in the flavour.

Location: 22 oz bottle obtained through Tavour Appearance: Almost black. Opaque. Finger of deeper mocha medium bubbles Nose: Deeply roasted malt. Caramel. Dark chocolate. Coffee. touch of vanilla. Taste: Caramel and sweet with a bit of alcohol evident. Dark chocolate rises towards the end of the sip and finishes with good dark bitters Body: Medium to full, smooth and satiny. Parting thoughts: A fantastic dark caramel beer with hints of salinity that keep it interesting.

650ml bottle. Pours a nice coca cola black color. Nice one finger, brown head that sticks around. No lacing. Nose is milk chocolate, caramel, salt. Delicious mouthfeel. Creamy. Beautiful beer. Fantatsic. I love this brewery.

650ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger of light mocha colored head that leaves some spotted lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel with hints of coffee and vanilla. Taste is a caramel malty sweetness with a light coffee and roasted grain bitterness. Light to medium bodied with good carbonation. Overall, a nicely crafted brew, with interesting blend of flavors, but a little bit thin in the body.
