A dessert stout brewed with lactose caramel and fleur de sel, inspired by our friends Tyler & Kim Malek at Salt & Straw. Tyler has been working on perfecting a lactose caramel syrup that mimics the flavor in his sea salt and caramel ice cream. After a few test blends, we’re worried that this might be the most addictive dessert beer ever made.

22oz bottle pours a dark brown with a tan head. Sweet caramel, light chocolate roast, cocoa powder, and sugar for aroma. Taste is pleasant, smooth creamy body with a rich caramel finish. Drinks like a milk stout, I would have liked a little more salt but this was enjoyable.

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, thick black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of big cocoa, roast, slight caramel, toffee notes into a slight salty notes, hints of slight maple. Taste was a mix of dark fruit, toffee, caramel into some salt, spice, slight caramelized sugar, chocolate, finishing slightly sweet.

Tap at Hop Haven. Nice sweetness, caramel and salt, toasty. Good, cola fizzy. First of many ratings from our Portland trip with not many notes.

Pours a finger of tan head on a black body. The aroma is caramel, roasted malt, cocoa and a little coffee. The taste is milky, caramel, coffee bitter and a general sweetness at the end. Nice. The texture is thicker with moderate carbonation. Enjoyable and interesting.

Bottle, shared with Parksy and phantomhennes. Dark brown with copper highlights and a lasting beige head. Bready caramel malts, fudgey chocolate, some bitter roast. Nicely balanced, not killing us with sweetness or extract artificial crap. And quite malty too, more full bodied than anticipated. Tasty.

A very good, interesting stout. Pours a deep carbonated brown-black with a tan head. Smells of salt, caramel, vanilla and strawberries. Lots of fruitiness in the taste, with strawberry and raspberry, followed by some vanilla, caramel, and a salty finish. More strawberry in the after taste. Had in the bottle.

Dark heavy brown pour with a foamy ivory head. Rich dark chocolaty nose with a bit of sea salt and rich, earthy caramel tones. Nice smooth flavor with a medium-full body, nice nutty earthy roasted chocolate flavors with some salt, finishes a bit biscuity and caramelly. Not bad.

On tap at the Drake. Great stout. The salted caramel just barely comes through, but it’s tough to complain about the result: a dark, toasty, well-balanced, lightly sweet brew.

Bottled: Deep reddish brown with an okay head and some spotty lace. Whilest it delivers on some promised aspects there is a husky grainy like off note that distracts. Needed more malt richness on both the flavor and mouthfeel IMO. Roast and coffee tones are pleasant enough. Then there is an out of place lactic twang.... Just too jumbled up to really make a mark nor make it something I would want again. Honestly disappointed.

Poured from a 22. Aroma is caramel cotton candy sweet. Flavor is very sweet and has a bitter bite to it. The beer is a little too sweet for me, but overall not bad.
