Commercial Description:
Roll up your sleeves and get to work in this Imperial Porter. Named after the 18th Century luggage porters in London, it’s been a well-deserved reward for the laborer for over 200 years. We put in the extra hours and doubled it for a Small Batch Series. Job well done folks, job well done.

Bomber poured a clear dark brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of dark chocolate, fruittiness and light coffee. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of dark chocolate, roastiness, vanilla and light fruittiness with a smooth lingering fruity finish.

22oz. Pours very dark but clear garnet with a frothy creamy cream colored head. Smells super sweet, corn, booze. Flavor follows the same, sweet one note corny tootsie roll. Medium/full bodied, syrupy thin, light carb.

( 22oz bottle ) Pours a dark brown body with a small tan head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of toasted grain, alcohol, and cocoa. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, alcohol, and some coffee. Unimpressed.

Bottle pours brown with a khaki head. Aroma is heavy in roasted malt, molasses, vanilla, and coffee. Flavor shows the same with additional notes of roasted nuts, wood, and chocolate. Overall body is full and creamy with a nice warming finish. Nothing impressive, but overall not too bad as a winter warmer.

Diluted molasses, caramel, slight dusty chocolate on the nose. Dark brownish black with a small head. Bitter dark chocolate chip sweetness, mild hop bitterness. Medium + carbonation, full mouth, rich chewy dark caramel malt finish with a bitter snap at the last second. Very tasty big, but not overwhelming beer. Alcohol is masked well, and all around extremely satisfying.

consumed a few times around 8/20/09. i think i expected a darker color... being an ’imperial’ and all... fairly average porter colored ruby brown with a frothy tan head. the first bottle i had smelled like cardboard... the latter bottles had notes of milk/lactose, licorice, some spice, cocoa, toasted nuts and wood... all mixed together and quite faint. the flavor has a lot of toasty grain... along with light coffee notes, roasted nuts, caramel, cheap chocolate, lactose, woody earth and a slight smoky/ashy bitterness on the finish. it seems muted when cold and improves immensely as it sits. unfortunately, as it sits the texture becomes oily and clingy. when cold the medium body is confused... rich and syrupy though prickly with sharp carbonation. 6/3/6/2/13/3.0

On Tap at the Paramount Cafe, Denver 25/09/2009 Fruit aroma. Small white head. Dark coloured a little rich on the palate and strong in alcohol with a hint of dryness in a crisp and bitter roast finish.

Sample at Breckenridge Ball Park Brew Pub in Denver. This brew is blackish brown with a medium foamy tan head that diminishes slowly. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of cocoa and coffee plus some roasted malt. Medium body with flavors of dark chocolate, weak coffee and a touch of dark fruit. Not as robust as expected given the ABV and "Imperial" tag. The finish is roasty with a coffee aftertaste that lingers a bit. Decent overall.
