3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 hopdog (7043) - Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 1, 2005
Bottle acquired in trade with Ernes (Thanks!). Poured a clear/see through medium copper color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, and flowers. Tastes of pine (gave me piney tasting burps), light caramel, and citrus. Sticky body. Medium sweet with a lighter bitterness to it (I would have preferred more of a balance, but overall a nice beer).

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2005 Poured a filtered copper color with a medium, off white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, grass, and piney hops. Taste of pine resin, citrus grapefruit, and a touch of caramel malt. Didn’t have the in-your-face hoppiness usually associated with IIPAs, but it was still nice. Thanks hopdog!

22oz. Bottle. Clear light copper color with thin head and weepy lacing. Nice “dank” pine and citrus aroma. Earth, citrus, and pine hop flavor with a doughy toasted malt background . Good balanced medium body. IPA
I have not been impressed with this brewery in the past so I did not know what to make of this beer. I was pleasantly surprised.

Who designs Breckenridge’s labels? They’re completely boring and basically suck and this is no exception. I won’t let that affect my review though. Crystal clear golden / light amber color. Interesting aroma. Smells malty on the pour & from a distance but up close the hops are really noticed. Nice puffy white head. Slight alcohol flavor but nothing that is a turn off. Slightly dry palate. Sticky too. Actually a nice balance for an IIPA. Seems like there are some dark flavors in there somewhere. This is enjoyable and 1000 times better than other Breckenridge beers that come in 6pks. Nice to see a brewery rising above utter mediocrity. Well done.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 whaleman (2176) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 27, 2005
Brassy-orange with moderate carbonation and a sudsy, dirty-white head. Aroma of nectarine, canned peaches, sweet honey, and a note of vanilla. Fairly sweet malt with a juicy nectarine flavor and clean bitterness. Sweetness is somewhat cloying. Needs more coarseness around the edges and a little more dryness.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dogbrick (4829) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 26, 2005
Crystal clear dark copper color with a thick and foamy off-white head. Thick lacing too. Aroma of hops and pine. Medium-bodied with a dry character. Lots of piney hops and citrus with a good malt backbone. The finish is nicely hopped and citrusy with a lingering sweetness. Pretty good, actually.

Tap. Pours pale copper with a thin tan head and good lacing. Fragrant floral hop aroma invites you to take a sip. Hoppy in flavor, but not overwhelming. The hops are noticeable though. Fizzy and spicy medium bodied palate.

Bottle. Clear copperwith a thin creamy head. Interesting aroma that says British and American IPA. Citrus and pine resin with a spicy, earthy quality. Big, bready, toasted malt flavor with fruit, wood and pineapple. Unique hop flavor combination. Bitter, somewhat dry finish with slightly rough lingering hop flavors. Distinct offering.

Bottle from Styles. Deep amber colored and clear with a nice retentive off-white head. Good lacing. Very enticing piney aroma mixed with caramel. Full bodied, perhaps a bit syrupy. Very dominant malt backbone with caramel flavor being all over this. Very adequate hop balance, not over the top, but nicely done. Residual hop bitterness finishes nicely.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Darkover (1448) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 17, 2005
Golden color with a big thick beige head and heavy lacing. Piney resinious hop aroma. Resinous hop flavor too. Not as sweet and malty as most beers of this style.
