COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hoppy? Brother, 471 redefines hoppy. 471 is a small batch, limited edition ale that was created by our Brewmaster to separate the weak from the strong. 471 is a double IPA, that combines Pale, Munich, Caramel-30, Carapils and Torrified Wheat malts, with Chinook, Centennial, Simcoe and Fuggles hops. It has a big sweet mouthfeel, followed by more hoppiness than you've ever had at one time. Enjoy. (Available at Breckenridge Pubs and Restaurants and bottled as 471 Small Batch Double Hopped IPA.)

UPDATED: JUL 31, 2005 Amber, light haze, some sparkle. Interesting. I guess this is a double IPA although the label says double hopped IPA. Prominent fruit esters, especially apple, bully the idea of IPA though. It has impressive body -- really nice feel with a touch of foam at the tip. The hop barrage fits into a viney, fruity groove to the malt’s tongue. The malts on the lighter end feel weak or oxidized. Less than the sum of its parts.

Bottle to pint glass. Pours hazy golden with modest white head. Major hop aroma with a hint of citrus. Flavor follows the nose, very hoppy, bit of alcohol with a bitter hoppy aftertaste (in a good way). Medium body, balanced carbonation. Nice lacing left on glass. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft. Pours hazy copper with thin white head; good retention and lacing. Aroma is biscuit malt, spice, with floral and citrus hops. Flavor is slight malt then dominated by floral and citrus hops/bitterness; light fruit esters and some pine notes. Medium body, carbonation, and warmth.

12 oz bottle. For an iipa, I was a bit disappointed in the aroma, definitely lacking that citrus hoppy smell. Something very strange about it. However, the flavor is much better. Nicely balanced sweetness with bitterness. I wished for a bigger hop bite in the finish. I was definitely surprised to see the 9.2% abv, it is well hidden. Overall, not too bad.

What ever, I get sick of big ratings for big beer. Most of these people are so shallow and transparent. YEAH, It’s a high alcohol, that don’t make it better. It has all the typical features of an IPA but the aroma and flavor is carrying an odd chemical note that I can’t put my finger on? Also the bitter after taste is a bit raunchy and lingers. Not the bad raunchy like spoiled just not pleasing.

A very ugly-looking deep golden, slight amber brew. Good frothy head, but tons and tons of sediment. Big floral nose. Flavor is hoppy but very sweet with the honey malts. Body is rather on the light side though and quaffable. This one has too many flaws for me though.

Hazy golden orange with a thin white head. Very little effervescence. Sticky full body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: bready pale malt, citrusy piney hops, and alcohol.

Taste: sweet toffee malts, sweet orange-blossom piney hops, some alcohol, and some yeast esters.

From the tap poured an amber color with a fair amount of head. Nice hoppy flavor with a quick finish.

Pours a cloudy amber. Incredibly strong hops up front. Citrus, pine and grassy flavors at first taste. Strong strong hops. Delicious. Mouthfeel is pretty bitter but not an annoying bitter. Slight alcohol burn. Overall quite a tasty IPA.
