Dark brown body with thin light brown head. Lightly sweet malt, faint nut aroma. Very thin on the palate. Flavor is some dry, roasted malt, a little bitterness, a little bready. Undistinguished mild nutty/malty aftertaste.

THOUGHTS: Maybe not the best old ale, but a really nice Autumn ale. Very malty and slightly warming.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark burgundy with bright, red highlights and a small to average, off-white head that mostly diminished, but left excellent lacing. The aroma contained moderate grain, nutty and toasted malt, molasses and caramel; slight milk chocolate; light hops; and ever so slight alcohol. The initial flavor was moderately sweet, slightly sour and slightly acidic; while the finish was moderately sweet, slightly acidic and lightly bitter. There was caramel, maple syrup, molasses, nutty malt cola, a little sour fruit and light hops. The medium body was a bit oily and then dry with fizzy carbonation and an ever so slightly alcoholic finish.

Bottle. Pours dark brown with a medium beige head. Sweet aroma of caramel, dark fruit, chocolate and a hint of smoke. Taste is moderately sweet caramel with dark dried fruits, some chocolate and a bit of nuttiness. Earthy spiciness towards the finish. Thin for an old ale.

Bottle. Pours a dark amber with small off white head. The aroma is a bready malt and raisin. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet malt and raisin with metallic finish. A decent Old ale from Breckenridge.

Breckenridge Autumn Ale is a dim brown ale with a light khaki head that fades to a film. It has a resiny aroma with a slight note of molasses. It’s very wooden and a little roasty. It’s pretty light bodied; kind of watery but the finish is kind of creamy. There is a lot of resiny malt in the taste, but it never gets sweet. Dark bread crust, medicine and maybe even licorice are in there. The aftertaste is pretty long and pretty bitter. Wow, this is like a light version of an imperial stout. What is this, a brown ale? Whatever it is, I like it.

Draft at Breckinridge. Pours a nice enough looking deep amber. Nose is quite grassy, strong caramel notes and some booze. Specialty malts are kind of all over the place. On tasting, more of the grassy hops. Light bitterness, medium bodied and on the sweet side. Doesn’t work for me.

Nice note of molasses but a little flat. Head was weak. More of a brown ale than old ale.

German malts in aroma with a bit of complex old ale characteristics. Relatively thin for an old ale and with the German malts and hops make this sort of odd, not bad overall just not that great of an ale.

Dark brown/black color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, caramel, & molasses; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, caramel, raisons, nuts, and spice; Overall, nothing too complex here - but decent.

Pretty good autumn brew here. I particularly enjoy the malt character of this one. It’s got some very complex notes, lots of bread, caramel notes in there. I really enjoyed this one. Pours a deep amber/copper with a generous head to it. Finishes very crisp and refreshing. The autumn season always brings some of my favorites beers. Great seasonal!
