Commercial Description:
Subtlety. That's what makes our Avalanche amber ale such a treat. We blend pale and caramel malts -- and just a kiss of bittering hops -- to create a refreshing-but-flavorful, any-time beer. Aromas of pale grains, a semi-sweet middle and a clean-as-Colorado-snow finish make this our best-selling beer.

A tea colored brew with a nice tan head. Caramel and hop aroma. A bit of raisin and earth as well. Flavor is fairly well balanced between tart hop and sweet malt but it they are not well matched. There is a nice zestiness that stimulates the tongue.

Amber pour with a yellow-beige head and minimal lacing. Yeast and malt in the nose. Taste is of sweet malt. More hops would improve this. Mouthfeel was evanescent and the finish left a slightly unpleasant metallic aftertaste.

Poured from the bottle into a double-walled pint glass. Pour produced a clear amber body topped by a thick head of yellow-white foam. Aroma is difficult to pick out, though malts are dominant. Texture was watery, with a slick touch in the lips. Bittersweet in taste, there isn’t much else to this ale except a slight metallic aftertaste. Not offensive, though nothing to write home about either.

A pointless drink as I never really tasted anything at all. Even the ambers I don’t like have some kind of malt character. This was like a tannish lager, except not even really hateable. Just there. Very odd.

Medium amber color. Aroma is malty. Head disappeared quickly. Taste is caramel malts. Nothing great, nothing bad.

Pour is (drum roll please) amber with a foamy white head that goes quickly. Aroma and flavor are pretty much all malt, with just a hint of fruit and hops. Nicely carbonated and refreshing, just nothing to get excited about.
