COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Subtlety. That's what makes our Avalanche amber ale such a treat. We blend pale and caramel malts -- and just a kiss of bittering hops -- to create a refreshing-but-flavorful, any-time beer. Aromas of pale grains, a semi-sweet middle and a clean-as-Colorado-snow finish make this our best-selling beer.

Malty sweet up front (caramel) but the finish is like medicine. Unimpressive!

Rated based on notes taken 28 May 2012 -- I thought this was a solid example of a standard Amber.

Session like lean and watery. Light toffee malts, no hops, cloudy very spritz like carbonation. No bad finish but no real finish either.

12 oz pour from refrigerated bottle into a glass mug. An aggressive pour produced a moderate lingering one-finger white head. Dissipates after a minute or two. Mostly clear, great carbonation, and a beautiful amber/copper color. Nose is pleasant and rich-- lots of malts, some caramel, some toast. Sweet. The of nose that just draws you into taking a drink. Medium bodied, bordering on creamy. Taste is a good balance better bitter and sweet. Starts out more bitter, fades to sweet, then leaves a bit of lingering bitterness. Caramel and bread. A very drinkable beer, overall. Definitely subtle. Nothing going on that wows me, but very enjoyable nonetheless. Great with the potato hash I am eating.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2015 Draft at Tavern On The Bend on April 10, 2015. Dark amber hue, good malty nose with sweetness not overdone, somewhat thin body, tasty sweet malty flavor with enough bitterness to keep things balanced. Nice sessionable brew. The low overall marks must be because Breckenridge lacks beer snob appeal. As always, I donít give a ratís ass about shit like that.

Bottle to shaker glass, Pours clear amber, quick head, no real lace or retention. Aroma of nuts and caramel. Taste is sweet. Light bodied, moderate carbonation, watery mouth feel. Finishes dry but sweet. Tasting notes of grass, nuts, caramel and a little pine. Very plain and uninspired.

Sublety. That sums it up pretty well. Not a whole lot of anything, but pretty good all the way around......Aroma is sweet and caramel malty....Appearance, not gonna lie, itís not going to wow you with itís pour. No head to speak of, sort of boring. But that amber color is very nice....Tasty. Itís not much of anything. Itís smooth, and sweet. I wouldnít call it bland, thereís a lot going on, but nothing distinguishable to me really....Mouthfeel, itís smooth, and buttery. I want to hold it in my mouth a little longer than normal....Overall a nice beer that I certainly want to drink more of!!

Can at home while in Jacksonville. Amber with a white head. Malty, fruit cake aroma. Light body, median carbonation. Thin, with caramel, light dark fruits, lemon, light metal... Not great.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle. Minor head and amber color. Weak aroma and very thin palate. Flavor has almost no interesting notes or hops, light malts. Not going to lie I'm not impressed.

Look: pours an amber color. White head. Very clear. Smell: earthy hops. European hops. Onion. Grass. Taste: piney. Grass. European hops. Feel: medium carbonation. Slightly dry in the middle. Sweet on the back. Overall: ok beer. Looking for more US hop flavor. Very crisp. First drank: home 3/4/15 Vintage: 10/16/14
