COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Exclusively for Old Chicago Restaurants - Buddha’s Hand witbier, or wheat beer, is brewed in the Belgian tradition with an American twist. Cascade hops along with a grain bill of Two Row, White Wheat, Caramel 30, Carapils and Torified Wheat afford this ale its 5.5% ABV and 17 IBU’s. What makes the hazy ale so unique is the addition of the fragrant Buddha’s hand citron plant fruit. The tropical fruit is segmented into finger-like sections, resembling the hand of Buddha, and responsible for a crisp, refreshing and lightly citrusy flavor perfect for summer enjoyment.

Tap at Old Chicago. Pours hazy yellow with a small, fizzy white head, some retention with light lacing. Aroma is wheat malt with citrus, lemon zest-like notes. Some doughy yeast and dust aromas. Flavor is malty wheat, tart citrus, lemon, light hop bitterness, creamy palate with a dry finish. Medium-light body, medium carbonation.

On tap at Old Chicago Colorado Springs. Color is a hazy yellow with good carbonation and a tight creamy head. Aroma is a bold banana yeast scent. It has a lighter medium body with a smooth mouth feel. Flavor is a sweet banana and yeast taste then some wheat comes out with a strew like taste and just a hint of citrus before a bold bitterness. After taste is clean with the bitterness hanging on. Overall its a good brew but you can’t tell they put any Buddha’s hand citron in it.

Pours a light golden yellow. Lots of wheat flavor as well as a early/mid bitterness from hops. Slightly sweet, however had flier not said that it was made from buddha’s hand fruit, I never would have guessed the fruit in it at all. One of the smoothest finishes in a beer I’ve had, with a slight sharpness early on was enjoyable, but not amazing.

On tap at Old Chicago Westminster poured a cloudy orange amber with a small lingering light amber head. Aromas of wheat, yeast, orange zest and light spice. Palate was light to medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of wheat, yeast, orange zest and light spice with a crisp citrus finish. Solid Wit beer but no where near as good as Averys Hand of Buddha!
