Exclusively for Old Chicago Restaurants - Buddha’s Hand witbier, or wheat beer, is brewed in the Belgian tradition with an American twist. Cascade hops along with a grain bill of Two Row, White Wheat, Caramel 30, Carapils and Torified Wheat afford this ale its 5.5% ABV and 17 IBU’s. What makes the hazy ale so unique is the addition of the fragrant Buddha’s hand citron plant fruit. The tropical fruit is segmented into finger-like sections, resembling the hand of Buddha, and responsible for a crisp, refreshing and lightly citrusy flavor perfect for summer enjoyment.

Pale, would not know its a whitbeir. Lighter on the palate at first. Seems well balanced and easy going without trying. Not bad. Perhaps some leather in there. Mild medicine on the finish. OK overall but was expecting more for a wite. .

Poured a slightly hazy yellow color with almost no head. Aroma has lots of yeast with some banana and bubblegum. Other light fruit as well, quite sweet. Taste is very fruity with lots of yeast flavors. Some slightly cheesy notes with hops. High carbonation with a medium body. Finish is crisp with banana, wheat, and fruit. Overall decent!

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Williston. Appearance: finger white head, straw yellow, clear, head does not last long, good lacing. Aroma: banana, light floral hops. Palate: light body, average carbonation, medium bitter finish, thin to slightly sticky texture. Taste: sweet wheat and malt into a floral and piney bitter finish. Overall, strange combination, really not that good.

Funky aromas of mellow citrus, apple sauce, soft banana, and Greek yogurt. Hazy straw with a somewhat lasting white frothy head. Mostly dry, subtly fruity. Light bodied. Interesting flavor profile that doesn’t stray too far from the traditional witbier. The incorporation of Buddha’s hand adds a much more mellow citrus profile, and makes for a unique crafty spin on a very refreshing style.

Golden brew that wasn’t what I would call hazy but rather looked like it had speckles floating about in it. Had to look at that for a while before taking a taste because never seen one that looked like bits of dirt in it. They would settle over time and then when the glass was disturbed they began to float around again. I did eventually drink it though. Spice aroma and a good bit of spice taste as well. Coriander is most clear but appears to have other spices too. Never tried Buddhas hand before so not sure some of the flavors I am getting are from this variety of citron or not. Good brew and thinking maybe the specs are from the citron or possibly one of the spices.
