From the bottle. Hoppy nose, raisins? A good bit of zing at the roof of my mouth with my first sips. Some sweetness pokes through this fine ale, the 7+ percent abv hides itself very well. All around good strong beery flavors, malts and hops, mild bitterness and cookie flavors. Good stuff.

Bottle: Brown pour with a small white head and little lacing. Aroma is malty, maybe even a bit of nuttiness. Taste is moslty malt, some grain and even a bit of sourness. Thin on body and on taste.

Little to no head accents this deep amber brew. Aroma is difficult to pinpoint, but has hints of spice and nuts. Bitter, yet warm finish due to the quality alcohol content, a nice, if not overwhelming, slow-drinking beer for the winter season

(bottle) Brown-amber in color. Head was sudsy and decipated quickly, but lace was present. Nutty in smell with a hint of herbs or spice. Smooth beer with earthy-malts in flavor. Bitter aftertaste but not overwhelming. Great beer for cuddling up in front of a fire place!

(bottle) Dark brown body with small tan head. The head disappears but leaves lots of lace on the glass. Wonderful strong aroma - the sweet malt really shines through with some floral hops and cherries and other fruit underneath. Flavor is sweet with malty sugar, and some earthy/fruity notes. The alcohol just comes through to offer some warmth. Medium bodied with low carbonation.

(Bottle) Pours a deep brown with a small tan head. Bitter nutmeg and caramel notes, with a slightly alcoholic aftertaste. Decent body and mouthfeel. Not a bad beer, but nothing too exciting.

Poured a nice transparent black/brown with a generous sudsy tan head which slowly faded to a float of bubbles with nice lace. Smelled of malt, fresh-mown hay and herbs. Tasted wonderfully malty without any cloying sweetness -- all espresso, unsweetened dark chocolare, toast, smoke, and charcoal with hints of caramel, brown sugar, grapefruit and herbs. Not at all fruity. Bitterness was from the dark roast of the malt more than the hops, although there was a nice grapefruit-spruce-juniper berry background. Nice texture -- subtly carbonated and slightly thick.
