Mundane flavors... light cherry or wood or something, it’s not important... lacking any holiday-like spices, it has a little sweet scotch and plum flavors, but nothing tremendously impressive... drinkable though. jeffc666 (1889), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

Flavor is more of the same with a big emphasis on the butterscotch. Quite malty, no spices in this Xmas beer, yeah! Medium almost full body. Overall just ok. mdi (573), Nebraska, USA

Dark brown color...twangy nose and flavor comes out quick...lots of malt, but this lactic sort of twang is really out of place. I like sour, but this is just twangy and poor. Dumper. Maybe that is why there is no BBD! Not the worst beer I’ve ever had, but why bother drinking something that isn’t enjoyable? obisbeer (558), Barcelona, Spain

Plain malt nose with some faint hops. med weight with a sweetness that lingers. Carmel and toffee notes. Decent brew though not much of an X-mas ale. Smooth with a malty flavor and hint of caramel, dark color not much head. Metalhead (570), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA

The 2004 is awesome. Mild malt, caramel and a bit of sweetness. Alcohol is well hidden. Very smooth well balanced brew. I loved the first 6 pack so much I bought 2 cases. This more along the lines of a great winter warmer rather than a true x-mas brew.
Update. The more I drink this the more I like it. Nothing out there. Just so well balance a tasty.Obviously the 9 I gave was for the style and has Nothing on a St. Bernardus. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA

A little ginger flavor and that’s about it. It’s an easy drink just not enough spice for a "Christmas ale". KAggie97 (2427), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 26, 2004 This reminds me more of a dry Amber than a Christmas Ale. It’s not bad, but it could be much more "Christmasy." Better than Shiner Winter by a friggin’ mile, though.
