2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pour, clear amber with creamy white head, good lacing. Faint malty aroma (sweet, bready). Mild taste of sweet malts, slightly fruity (raisin or plum-like), faint floral hops with enough bitterness to balance malt back. Smooth mouthfeel, decent finish. A well constructed winter ale, a little too light on flavor and aroma for my liking.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft to snifter. Looks good; a fairly opaque dark amberish brown with off-white lacing. Smells malty with mild notes of chocolate. Tastes like it smells, only more robust, with notes of caramel too. Solid on the palate. Exceeded my expectations.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The color of this beer is a clear auburn color with a medium white head, and the subtle aroma blends caramel malts and floral hops. The taste combines a slight bitterness, mild sourness, and a touch of umami, and the palate fuses a slick texture, light body, average carbonation, and a nutty finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, wheat bread, caramel, almonds, slight spice. Taste has a very good toasted bread base malt but not much else. Very small amount of nuts and spice, but barely noticeable. Dry finish of toasted malts. Medium bodied, thin texture, average carbonation. Not bad, but lacking the spicy kick I look for and associate with a Christmas ale.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear dark copper to garnet pour with a thin, soapy, eggshell head. Aroma is toasty, nutty, caramel, light fruity tartness, a hint of cocoa and dessert bread spices. Flavor is sweet, dark caramel, nutty notes and dry chocolate up front, earthy dessert spices, a hint of dried citrus, and an odd lemon-wheat-like tartness. Medium body with a neutral to oily texture and light, blanketing carbonation. Pretty good overall, a bit on the plain and quick to finish side for a hearty, spicy winter seasonal Strong Ale

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Dark pour almost zero head. Very flat somewhat hoppy ale with hints of spice. Not even near one of the best seasonal ales I’ve had.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 1/20/2014. Pours fairly crystal clear orange copper color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of raisin, plum, caramel, toast, toffee, brown bread, chocolate, light roast, pine, floral, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice aromas with good balance and complexity of malt and moderate hop notes; with good strength. Taste of raisin, plum, caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, light roast, floral, pine, grass, and herbal earthiness. Light amount earthy pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark fruit, caramel, toast, toffee, chocolate, brown bread, light roast, floral, and light pine on the finish for a good bit. Nice balance and robustness of malt and hop flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and lightly slick mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice winter warmer style. Good balance and robustness of malt and earthy/spicy hop flavors; and smooth to sip on. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Dark pour, smallish head, not much retention. Nose: malt. Tastes malty, not a whole lot else to comment on. Positives: better than Old Milwaukee. Ho, ho, fucking ho. Merry Christmas 30-some days early.
