The chill of a Colorado high-country winter calls for a beer with extra flavor and strength. Here it is. At over 7% alcohol, with a sturdy texture and rich flavors of caramel and chocolate, our holiday seasonal is the fermented equivalent of a good fire.
The ultimate winter warmer.

As far as Christmas Ales go, it is not that special. I am a dark beer fan and prefer Christmas Ales where the added spices come into play.

Dark clear reddish Amber with a khaki head. Mild aroma of caramel, toast, and light spice. Taste is toasted malt and mild bitterness. Slight booze. Body is fairly light and kind of the consistency of cola.

Muted malt sweet aroma. Taste is copper malt flavored which is not my thing but it’s not too abrasive. Really like the spices which are pretty gentle. Red copper color with a bit of white head. Clear. Thinnish body.

Bottle. Caramel malt, hay, and alcohol aroma. Dark amber with light tan head. Sweet caramel malt, moderate herbal hay, and alcohol flavor. Nice body. Bonus points for no spices.

Bottle from Total Wine. No detailed notes - entering from earlier tasting. Standard winter ale, although the spice is nicely subtle.

Dark amber Xmas beer. Light for the style but easy drinking. A touch of sweetness and malt and that is about it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Deep amber pour. The aroma is soft and malty with a bright pine character cutting through it. Has a little bit of pepper and some nice spiciness throughout. Moderately sweet but well balanced. Has a little bit of lingering bitterness. Nice, Christmassy tasting brew.

Bottle at home. Pours brown with three fingers of off white head. Aroma was slight caramel and malt, but a good dose of electrical tape also. Smelled very off. This came through in the flavor also. Tasted like bad home-brew. Very disappointing. This was my only bottle and so I can’t tell if it is just the beer, or if I got a bad bottle. Either way, it wasn’t good.

Bottle. Pours a deep amber with a average off-white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee and spices. Flavor had a slight bitterness with dark caramel, chocolate, nutmeg, light fruit and some winter spices.
