As far as Christmas Ales go, it is not that special. I am a dark beer fan and prefer Christmas Ales where the added spices come into play.

It was surprisingly bland. It got better as you went on, but rather forgettable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle shared. Pours medium dark reddish brown. With no apparent head or lacing. Aroma is chocolate mildly and what smells like tobacco. Flavor wise it has some spice in there but canít really tell you what it is. Not a fan because of so little going on.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Dark amber brown poured from a tap. Sweet aroma almost reminds me of gingerbread. Sweet taste as well with a little fruit.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a dark amber color with a decent head that fades to some lacing. Aroma of roasted malt, dark fruit and a hint of nuts. Taste follows with roasted malt, some dark fruit and a bit nutty. Mild bitterness and a clean finish. Fairly medium body, smooth, with the 7.4 ABV well hidden. Nothing fancy but not a bad way to start the holidays.

2.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle pour, clear amber with creamy white head, good lacing. Faint malty aroma (sweet, bready). Mild taste of sweet malts, slightly fruity (raisin or plum-like), faint floral hops with enough bitterness to balance malt back. Smooth mouthfeel, decent finish. A well constructed winter ale, a little too light on flavor and aroma for my liking.

Draft to snifter. Looks good; a fairly opaque dark amberish brown with off-white lacing. Smells malty with mild notes of chocolate. Tastes like it smells, only more robust, with notes of caramel too. Solid on the palate. Exceeded my expectations.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The color of this beer is a clear auburn color with a medium white head, and the subtle aroma blends caramel malts and floral hops. The taste combines a slight bitterness, mild sourness, and a touch of umami, and the palate fuses a slick texture, light body, average carbonation, and a nutty finish.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a clear copper with a small white head that leaves a fair amount of lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, wheat bread, caramel, almonds, slight spice. Taste has a very good toasted bread base malt but not much else. Very small amount of nuts and spice, but barely noticeable. Dry finish of toasted malts. Medium bodied, thin texture, average carbonation. Not bad, but lacking the spicy kick I look for and associate with a Christmas ale.
