Nothing really outstanding about but this brew but a nice drinking none the less. Drinks smooth with nice balanced flavor a little or no aftertaste. For the price, nice drinking beer. msjacilynn (18), St Paul, Minnesota, USA

Nutty in smell with a hint of herbs or spice. Smooth beer with earthy-malts in flavor. Bitter aftertaste but not overwhelming. Great beer for cuddling up in front of a fire place! 502Flavors (631), Louisville, Kentucky, USA

Really unique and balanced and great for the winter with a great Christmas cake character that I really like. FlyFishingBob (14), Clinton Township, Michigan, USA

Hints of hops and woodiness as well. Nice, smooth mouthfeel as well....yum! beervana (781), Libertyville, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 21, 2005 Sampled at a 2005 Christmas and Winter beer tasting at Delilah’s, Chicago, IL. 2004 vintage. Clear amber ale with small diminishing head. No discernable carbonation. Sweet malt aroma. Medium bodied that starts with spice, hop, and toasted candy malt flavors, similar to chocolate-coated malt balls. Finishes dry with light lingering bitterness. Good hop/malt balance. This is a good drinkable winter brew. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA

Roasty aroma some coffee and caramel and a good helping of hops, wish it were stronger. Dark brown pour with a thin head but ample lacing. Medium mouthfeel but it’s rich and filling with a real easy finish for such a sturdy beer. Flavor is an excellent bundle of roasted toasted malts, mild hops, some minimal spices, and a touch of coffee and rich brown sugar. This is like the Christmas rum cake of beer. jstraw (778), Chicago, Illinois, USA
