It was not too thin, maybe a 3.5 in mouthfeel if there was such a thing, not quite a 4. It had a different taste that I can’t quite put my finger on, but it is not displeasing. aracauna (2427), Georgia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2003 This brew starts off with a nice dark carmel color and fairly thin off white head. Nose is crisp and malty. Flavor is full, with a good malt character and some nice spice, but this beer seems to be lacking something to really push it from above average to very good or great. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 15, 2003 The Christmas Ale poured reddish-brown with very little head. The head quickly disappeared for the most part leaving little traces. The beer had a slight malty, caramel like aroma with hints of alcohol, pretty subtle overall. It tasted a little spicy with a big hoppy finish. It was pretty full-bodied with a slight metallic feel. Overall, not as impressive as I was expecting. I normally like a spicier Christmas Ale. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 17, 2007 Bottle Pours a clear dark mahogany witha small beige head. Aroma is caramel, brown sugar and chocolate. Flavor is similar, woody, and a bit sour. The ABV is noticeable but doesn’t over shadow. Lacking some IBUs for an american strong but a nice blend of sweet carmel malts and some bittering piney hops. Moderate pallet, not particularly rich or clean. Decent.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 16, 2005 Appearance is brown, wiht a skim of creamy white head. Aroma is malty, hint of hops, citrusy, not spicy. Smooth palate, but not creamy. Very malty flavory, warming alcohol, hops on the finish. Not bitter. Very good, great use of hops in this brew. Not bitter at all, but great hints of it. Good hop burp, if you like that sort of thing.
