2008 Christmas Nothing really outstanding about but this brew but a nice drinking none the less. Drinks smooth with nice balanced flavor a little or no aftertaste. For the price, nice drinking beer.

Vintage 2012, it pours dark Amber with average tan head. Aroma of breaded malts. Flavors of nutmeg and other spices, caramel, and toast with a crisp finish. Decent lacing and a pleasant warming sensation.

Bottle from notes. Pours a hazy amber brown with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, mild chocolate, very light spices, a dark fruit cherry fruitiness, thinner body, light bitterness, ok.

Malty and sweet with some brown sugar and slight plum flavors. Not bad, but nothing especially interesting.

Color is like a chestnut with some lighter ruby/orange hilight. Average foam head fades to a simple surface foam. Aroma is sweet malts maybe a hint a hint of vinilla. I don’t notice much hops. Taste of sweet malt with hints of fresh bread nuts and some slight diacetyl. A bit astringent when I swallow. A good bit of alcohol too. Has a medium body but tends to be a little bit watery around the edges. Needs flavor I think is the major problem

Pours a brownish color with off-white head. Spice, chocolate, and some caramel/toffee on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a roasted malt note and some spice.

czar (4508) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 10, 2014
pours unclear golden orange with a small white head, some retention and lacing. munich toasted and spicy malts - just a touch of caramel and roasted notes, red fruitiness - mostly cranberries but also raspberries and red grapes, spices - pot-pourri-like cinnamon, never overwhelming though, peppery yeastiness, grass, raspberry leaves tea, hint of sweetness. moderate carbonation, light body - oily, balanced grassy-woodsy-spicy and lightly astringent finish. more than decent christmas offering - subtle spice mixture blends in well with malt bill - or maybe they slightly faded for this bottle has a few months of age. anyhow, it’s enjoyable.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a hazy dark brown with minimal head. Aroma of caramel, nutmeg and a little citrus. Taste is light bitter. Herbal and citrus hops with nutmeg and caramel. Light bodied with a slightly thick texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Great beer.
