2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
On hand at Wynkoop’s United Tastes of Belgium 2012. Slightly hazy copper with a big caramel and vegetal nose, doesn’t quite come together so well. Flavor is ok with too much bitterness, some vegetal hops, grapefruit citrus, and a weird caramel tone that comes too early and leaves too soon. Too much lasting herbal bitterness.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUL 8, 2012 Tap at the brewpub in Breck. Color is deep amber with a frothy white head and great lacing. Smell is earthy hops, light citrus, moderate caramel, spice, light alcohol, and brown sugar. Taste is earthy, with hints of spice, big caramel, a touch of alcohol, and pine with a sweet and citrus bitter finish. Mouthfeel is full with soft carbonation. Overall, a pretty good DIPA, but I’m not really seeing this as a belgian IPA. Still pretty good.
