Commercial Description:
Rich, round and roasted, our Oatmeal Stout is satisfaction in a glass. It's a bold, smooth-bodied concoction that oozes dark-roasted coffee aromas and flavors of espresso and semi-sweet chocolate. We round out these heady pleasures with a dose of flaked oatmeal for a creamy body and a semi-dry finish. Unforgettable.

Dark ruby beer, small soapy lace - aroma of oats, vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, roasted malts, coffee - smooth, creamy, medium-bodied - fairly dry and roasty, with black malt bitterness, but this is tempered by some semisweet chocolate and cream - finishes a tad smoky - reminds me more of the classic british examples than what most american brewers make - perhaps that’s why it’s rated so low?

Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Black, beige head. Mild coffee aroma, Mid-dry, soothingly roasty espresso with cream atop but no sugar. Medium bodied with well rounded mouthfeel. Slight salty bitterness. Harmonious and well balanced.

This was on nitro at the Breckenridge Brewery/BBQ and had the telltale cascading head. It was black with a light cream colored head, looked like a Guinness. Smells were slight roasted malts. The taste was roasted oats and malts. Nice beer, easy to drink, and went well with the rack of ribs. It smells Serving type: nitro-tap Reviewed on: 10-22-2007 15:06:24

12 oz bottle. Pours very dark brown with a khaki head. Cocoa and cream aroma. Flavor is roasty chocolate, medium sweetness, with some coffee. The roast comes across a bit burnt and ashy and overpowers the other flavors a bit. Alright, but not great.

I enjoyed this one thoroughly. Poured from bottle into pint glass after letting it warm up a tad. Appearance was none more black with a beautiful dark creme colored two finger head that disappeared quickly and left no sign of lacing. Smell is of oats, coffee, something roasting. Taste is very good and somewhat complex for this style. Not the oatmeal led meal in a bottle that I had expected. If the taste could be described in a word, that word would be dark. Mouthfeel was pretty heavy and creamy but not enough to make the beer undrinkable. Not much sign of carbonation. Loved the coating feeling this one had going down. Would definitely drink again.

Sampler at the Breckenridge Brewery 2220 Blake Street, Denver 08/10/2008 Roast aroma. Small beige head. Black fruity and smooth on the palate with a crisp and dry chocolaty roast finish.
