Black pour with creamy brown edges. Small tan head that is really quick to vacate, and leaves minimal lacing. Nose of cold stale coffee, milk chocolate, roasted malts, licorice and vanilla extract. Pretty muted though. Taste is pretty similar, like a cup of coffee left out too long. Pretty bitter and roasty at the end, then fades into a twang which I can only attribute to the oatmeal. Medium bodied, rounded palate, sticky as well. Just an average beer. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA

Even Rachael Ray would agree that that most irritating of words is best to use when describing Breckenridge Oatmeal Stout. Deep semi-sweet cocoa flavors hide in this luxurious stout with a color in which only select dark brown hues are reflected. All other colors are swallowed into its gaping nothingness. I love stouts, and this one is a fine example. Breckenridge continues to top my list of favorite brewers. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Nov 14, 2007 Deep dark brown in color with no head. Sour lactic aroma. Buttery flavor. Buttery tasting. Not good. Lactic. holdenn (1440), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 6, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tall soapy beige head. Creamy nose. Chocolate malts touch of smoke. Flavors are creamy chocolate, oats, and coffee with burnt smokey notes that seem slighty off balance but still decent. A little watery but not bad as a whole though. Surprised actually with this one. Hollywoodt (174), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Nov 2, 2007 Poured a dark brown color with a minimal off-white head. Aroma was of malt and a little touch of oats. The flavor was heavy malt with a tendency toward burnt, dark malt. Not one I’d probably pick up again. ketchepillar (478), Viña del Mar, Chile
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 1, 2007 Not a bad beer, but just average-ish. A little too sweet for my tastes. Also, something about the combination of malts made for a not-so-great taste profile. Again, not bad, but I think it could be much better. lumberjack (178), Michigan, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2007 Aroma is malty with a hint of oats. Flavor is quite sweet with again just a hint of the oats. There is a nice roasted chocolate-coffee taste with very little in the way of hops. Lightly carbonated and a tad watery. Pretty good overall. Canadianlush (169), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 23, 2007 Fine stout overvall. Out of the bottle it pours so black, I actually held it up to a light and couldn’t see the faintest color other than pitch black - just the way a stout should pour. Nice light brown head too.
Aroma of smoke and molassis. Taste is refined, more bitter than sweet with hints of the oatmeal, hops and coffee. I’ve got to have this from the tap!
