Canadianlush (169), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA Oct 23, 2007 Fine stout overvall. Out of the bottle it pours so black, I actually held it up to a light and couldn’t see the faintest color other than pitch black - just the way a stout should pour. Nice light brown head too.
Aroma of smoke and molassis. Taste is refined, more bitter than sweet with hints of the oatmeal, hops and coffee. I’ve got to have this from the tap! jhumphries69 (717), Tyrone, Georgia, USA Oct 4, 2007 Updated: Oct 12, 200712 oz. bottle. Pours a deep, opaque onyx with a very thick, dense, velvety head that lasts a long time and leaves lace on the glass like jaguar spots. The aroma is bold with dark roasted grains, chocolate cookie (like an Oreo w/out the creamy center), and sweet barley malt. There is also an earthy, herbal character from the hops - albeit mild. The flavor starts bittersweet like semi-sweet chocolate chips. The taste reminds me of of Oreos dipped in cold, bitter coffee. Hints of hops emerge towards the back of the tongue - just enough to provide balance to this semi-sweet, roasty brew. The finish is dry with a lingering slight sweetness. The mouthfeel is a touch over-carbonated, but otherwise elegantly thick - not syrupy. The luscious oiliness of oatmeal is pretty evident in the beer’s full body. Overall, a pretty decent oatmeal stout. pants678 (13), Ft Worth, Texas, USA Oct 1, 2007 Really delicious brew, a great oatmeal stout. The head is a nice beige and has a alluring burnt coffee aroma. It’s dark, pushing black and tastes of chocolate and hints of caramel. Well balanced with a nice finish. patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Sep 25, 2007 bomber - Pours near black with a moderate sized head that lingers with substantial lacing. The aroma is roast malt and a touch of coffee. The flavor is mostly about the roast malts with a touch of chocolate and a mild hops balance that’s mainly noticeable in the finish. It’s a very drinkable, medium bodied stout, but didn’t overly impress me. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA Sep 24, 2007 Pours an opaque black color with a slight chocolate and coffee aroma. Those flavors carry over to the flavor. Creamy and smooth.
12 oz. bottle. footy (334), scottsdale, Arizona, USA Sep 23, 2007 3/26/05 12oz. Dark brown with cramy brown head. Creamy coffee mildly chocolate aroma. Some bitter roast taste with very thin mouth feel. RSRIZZO (1345), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Sep 21, 2007 Had this beer on 6/2/2006. Aroma is a light roasted and almost burnt malt scent. Color is a deep black with low carbonation and a thin head. Taste is deeply roasted and dry. Starting with a full medium body it goes down with a mild sharp feel. Finish comes on with a deep roasted malt flavor and light hop bitterness that leaves you with a dry feel. Its a nice little stout.
pintocb (508), Darsville, Georgia, USA Sep 18, 2007 Dark with a light head for a stout. Burnt toast and coffee dominate the nose and the taste. Dry finish. Drinkable.
