Pours a deep, opaque onyx with a very thick, dense, velvety head that lasts a long time and leaves lace on the glass like jaguar spots. The aroma is bold with dark roasted grains, chocolate cookie (like an Oreo w/out the creamy center), and sweet barley malt. There is also an earthy, herbal character from the hops - albeit mild. The flavor starts bittersweet like semi-sweet chocolate chips. The taste reminds me of of Oreos dipped in cold, bitter coffee. Hints of hops emerge towards the back of the tongue - just enough to provide balance to this semi-sweet, roasty brew. The finish is dry with a lingering slight sweetness. The mouthfeel is a touch over-carbonated, but otherwise elegantly thick - not syrupy. The luscious oiliness of oatmeal is pretty evident in the beer’s full body. Overall, a pretty decent oatmeal stout. pants678 (13), Ft Worth, Texas, USA

The head is a nice beige and has a alluring burnt coffee aroma. It’s dark, pushing black and tastes of chocolate and hints of caramel. Well balanced with a nice finish. patrick767 (2019), fort wayne, Indiana, USA

The aroma is roast malt and a touch of coffee. The flavor is mostly about the roast malts with a touch of chocolate and a mild hops balance that’s mainly noticeable in the finish. It’s a very drinkable, medium bodied stout, but didn’t overly impress me. redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 21, 2007 Had this beer on 6/2/2006. Aroma is a light roasted and almost burnt malt scent. Color is a deep black with low carbonation and a thin head. Taste is deeply roasted and dry. Starting with a full medium body it goes down with a mild sharp feel. Finish comes on with a deep roasted malt flavor and light hop bitterness that leaves you with a dry feel. Its a nice little stout.

The aroma was lightly roasty and a touch bitter. The flavor was bitter, roasty and had a sharp floral hop presence. Drier than I expected.
