ilovedarkbeer (1326), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 3, 2007 Pours a dark black brown color that looks like coffee. Has a fluffy tan head and a nose that smells of roasted malt and milk. Tastes somewhat weak mostly just roasted malt and chocolate. Just ok. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA Sep 3, 2007 12 oz bottle. Opaque black with small tan head. Aroma is soft coffee and dark chocolate malt. Flavor is biting dark roasted and chocolate malt, slightly medicinal. Medium to thin body and creamy. Unappealing and frustratingly thin. keith0718 (157), Olathe, Kansas, USA Sep 2, 2007 Pretty good stout. A tad thing. Reminiscent of Samuel Smith’s Imperial Stout, but not quite as good. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 12/15/1995

thefederalist (226), Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA Aug 29, 2007 Updated: Feb 19, 2009Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a small and diminishing head that makes tiny amoebic shapes as it dissipated. Aroma is slightly sour with some roast coffee and a bit of chocolate. Flavor is very dry, a bit sour with some nice dark malt flavor. Mouthfeel is almost perfect for the style; a bit oily as it should be. Probably the least sweet sweet stout I’ve ever tasted, which leaves me dissapointed. Looks rather emasculated in my Samuel Smith’s pint glass both because it’s a 12oz beer in an imperial pint glass and also because it fails to live up to the original Oatmeal Stout. It’s ok though, I have a Rogue Chocolate coming up next. Icommonsewer (122), TUCSON, Arizona, USA Aug 29, 2007 its rare that I come across a stout that I dont like... even the imperials are ok, but this one was a real disappointment buth for me and my wife who called it "sad" tasting! jcr (1139), Jasper, Indiana, USA Aug 23, 2007 Draft. Small brown and frothy head atop a black body. Malty aroma of roast and dark chocolate with some notes of caramel. The flavor is moderately bitter and only slightly sweet. It finishes acidic to the point of metallic. Medium body and thin texture, but the carbonation is fairly lively. Drinkable, but uninspired. gws57 (1131), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA Aug 23, 2007 Found this one bottled in a multipack from Binny’s in St. Charles, Illinois. Very dark brown, opaque pour with a nice thick tan head, bitter chocolate and coffee nose with a very nice maltiness, some off hints of yeast, and sweetness of bitter almonds and chocolate. Pretty good sweet stout.
